Pros

The work NSF does varies quite a bit division to division but it's all aligned and comes together with one mission, which is great. SLT does a good job of being present with quarterly open forums and meet & greets. My manager is fantastic and encourages me to grow professionally. NSF has a lot of initiatives to promote work/life balance (Summer Fridays, Hybrid, No meetings Friday, Flexible time off policy).

Cons

Decent amount of travel, but comes with the job. Some employees were remote and now have to be hyrbid.

Pros

You will learn more here in 3 years about test, standard certification than you would at a college/university program. Additionally you will learn through first hand experience on how NOT to lead a team, as well as obtain gainful experience in how to manage workload in a bullying-toxic workplace. Run-don’t walk away from this organization.

Cons

Horrible management and leadership. They went from bad to worst in early 2022. No compassion or empathy within the organization, zero home-work life balance and deadlines that are impossible to meet - not just internally, but externally as well.

Terrible Company to Work For

Pros

Autonomy in scheduling to a point.

Cons

Terrible training program. Have to drive an extreme amount to perform work tasks. Management only cares about number of audits performed. Company does not care about public health. Bad work life balance when it comes to travel and hours on the road. Company has no loyalty to long term employees. Will restructure and lay off 7+ year employees with no notice. Not even a goodbye from their supervisor. Stone cold heatless company. Management does not give reference calls for future jobs.

CEO and Senior management out of touch with employees

Pros

Current work life balance is great.

Cons

-Salaries are low in comparison to the current market. Senior management is reluctant to address this gap and as a result we are continuing to lose talent. When staff brought this concern forward to Senior Management, management dodged the question and told staff we needed to 'work harder' to meet budget so they could afford to raise salaries for existing staff. -Recently Senior management decided that they needed to have bodies back in the office in a hybrid model if you are within 25 miles so that we can collaborate more effectively. The reason for given to staff is weak at best and insensitive given the current state of the economy (gas prices, rising inflation, etc.). We continue to provide feedback as such to our managers but the management has refused to listen to their staff and communicate this to Pedro. Staff are angry and management does not seem to want to listen.

Pros

If you like traveling, then you'll get allot of that. The monthly rental car was nice. Corsair Coworkers and direct managers.

Cons

Work life balance, where? After laying off a large portion of auditors, those who were "lucky" were left picking up the slack. Did I mention that pay was cut by 15% during the height of the pandemic? Just enough to not qualify for partial unemployment. Quality Assurance is a joke. Dissolved the position and hired a bunch of contractors that do as they please. All in the name of "transformation". Now like testing people as "disposable workforce" (direct quote from a "secret" meeting with a former director). Inconsistent audit delivery while charging more for sub par work. A joke is what the retail audition division has become. For a not for profit organization; money is the main concern. I could go on for days, but I think I've painted a pretty enough picture. APPLICANTS BEWARE! They will bait and switch you.

Used to be a Great Company; Heading Downhill Fast

Pros

NSF used to be a great place to work. There was good work/life balance, strategic direction that was mission-based, and the company genuinely cared for it's employees.

Cons

Under our new President/CEO, the culture has plummeted into one of fear and chaos, as it’s now constant cuts and layoffs. Those who survived the layoffs are now leaving in droves, fearing the next round of cuts being rumored about. Operating budgets are being slashed and Capital spending frozen, yet we’re all told to do more with less staff and resources. Positions are “eliminated” and then the work is absorbed by other team members with no compensation change. NSF may technically be a not-for-profit entity, but under new executive leadership, the culture that once existed is gone, and all the remains is short-sighted greed, budget cuts, layoffs, and the death spiral of a once great company now under poor leadership.
