Pros

Great company pay for contract projects. company will need new senior support to succeed.

Cons

No foundation and work flows for employees . The current company management tools do not match up with current customer projects. Vice Presidents work in Silos . Projects have very low profit margin if any. This will cause issue with new growth plan.

Pros

There are some great people at NX, a couple people at the company were very nice and helpful. They offer great flexibility after you show you can do your work and they have a casual dress code.

Cons

First, I'm not a disgruntled employee, just someone trying to help save you a bad experience... Second, I beg you to find another place to work. You can be the best at what you do, the most knowledgeable person in the room, friends with everyone, and then one thing goes wrong and you're done. During my tenure I have seen many people come in one day and disappear never to be heard from again. Firing people is discussed as a valid way to gain compliance with new initiatives, you don't go with the flow you're gone, we'll find someone who will. You take a little time to learn your job or you say the wrong thing to the wrong person, hit the bricks pal you were lucky to have the job now good luck surviving somewhere else. Beyond that, the business model itself is extremely flawed and only survives by the good graces of its main investor. The company operates solely on a line of credit that is never high enough, vendors go without payment for months, so much to the extent that the company turned to credit cards to pay their vendors to get product because the bank would not increase their credit line and vendors do not pay. There is constant fear of not having money to make payroll and thus constant agitation and anger over the fact that customers take a very long time to pay. Not only do customers not pay promptly but management has absolutely no goal except to make money. It doesn't matter that THEY may never see the revenue they're booking in the form of cash, but they well book it because business is business and business must grow. They could care less about helping anyone, some of them would step on anyone if it meant a few more dollars in revenue. The pay is ok, but the benefits are horrible. Company pays less than 50% of benefit cost and the deductibles and out of pockets for healthcare are egregious. They do have a 401k, but there is no match and if not enough people invest they will pass the penalty fees from the custodian on to the employees.

Pros

You get a company vehicle. Pay generally is 10% less than industry standard. Here's how the company works. Company is actually owned by Qualtek. This done so if a lawsuit or problem with construction ever occurs NX (Valued at 1 million) is liable instead of Qualtek (Valued at 1 billion). NX Utilities has changed its named multiple times because of this. It used to Next Connection and something else even before that. It a lawsuit occurs, everything closes up shop and gets renamed so all reviews and valuation disappear and a new company magically appears. This is a common trick used by construction companies. Headquarters in Philadelphia - Micro offices all over USA Contracts get acquired at Philadelphia, then they create these micro offices in whatever city the work needs to be completed.

Cons

Problem is they get contracts in cities all over US and create these micro offices to complete work instead of flying out experienced employees to the cities. The second there is no work in your city, your laid off. Took you over a month to get the job that will only last 6 months at best. Its cheaper to lay you off, and hire an inexperienced worker in the city where the new contract is than fly and house you there. If one mistake occurs your laid off, even if its not your fault. It cost the company money, so you cost yourself your job. Essentially your insurance coverage went up a small amount, so its easier to put a different employees anme on the insurance plan. Its a terrible business practice that doesn't make sense, in construction mistakes happen, its inevitable. Everyone is a contractor, even if your title says NX after it. One day you'll call your warehouse manager, when the next his phone is dead and hes laid off. Why, you'll never get an answer to that question? Every employee is constantly wondering when they are going to lose their job, which leads to horrible morale and a general lack of who gives a hell about the current project and the next project, because your just going to get let go, so why put any effort into anything other than saving every penny on your paycheck. When I was hired there were 30 workers in my city. 6 months later, there were 3 of us left. That's frightening for me to type.
