Pros

The working environment is really nice. Spacious, big windows, new furniture. The location is great and near several different subway lines. The low rank people are great and doing their best. The science and technology are top notch. The mission is important Compensation is generous.

Cons

- No financial model. The place constantly bleeds cash and has no viable model how to do genomics in one of the most expensive areas on earth. We have no clue when the board will pull the plug. - The atmosphere is toxic. There is a constant turnover of key positions and lack of communication between different parts of the company. Senior people are afraid to take decisions and minor decisions have to be discussed with the COO. - No CEO. The last CEO stepped down about 6month ago but they did not find anyone to replace him. Currently, the COO runs the place. - The management has no experience in genomics. Think about the Boeing management without any aviation expert or Google management without a single programmer. You got it.

Pros

Not many. The building and facilities are very nice. Location in downtown NYC is very nice. Some really great people on the lower levels.

Cons

This was an awful place to work, which is a shame because it had so much promise. Underlying all the nice looks of the place is a really terrible working environment. Pretty much exactly what other people have been saying. Production Lab leadership is really bad. Uncertainty and raising up the wrong people bred a negative work environment. It's kind of like chickens running around with their heads cut off.

Pros

The only thing to say here is there are some good people there on the lower levels. Unfortunately, though there was promise initially, the company just hasn't succeeded.

Cons

Just a bad organization. It's so surprising that the worst behaving individuals are the ones promoted, which shows an incredible lack of awareness by upper management. The labs are an operational mess and generally people are unhappy. There are talks of financial insolvency. They had to raise prices to cover costs but the costs are just too high. Tried to offload sequencers. Only thing saving are philanthropists, but the goodwill looks to be running out. Poor lab management leadership overall.
