One of the worst firms out there

Pros

Any positive aspects of the firm are dwarfed by the unbelievably poor management of the firm

Cons

The list goes on and on. CEO and his henchmen have built a joke of a platform. They just don't get it but they have a small retail pipleline which keeps the lights on. I have spent some time at some second and third tier firms, but this place takes the cake. Unethical leaders with pipe dreams of playing with the big boys. This firm is to be avoided at ALL costs.

We have internally discussed your review and have found no basis, facts or sentiments from other employees that support your negative statements. NYPPEX has been a pioneer and leader in the secondary private equity industry for more then 15 years based on our dedication to serving clients. Regarding management skill, over the years, we have led the consolidation of our industry by acquiring 3 competitors, and recently, investing in 2 fintech firms. We are among the largest firms in the secondary private equity industry worldwide by several measures, including having provided liquidity on over $8 billion in private equity assets and by employee headcount. Further, our culture promotes a meritocracy where all employees enjoy valuable benefits including equity participation (RSPs), a 401k profit sharing plan and the opportunity to earn a substantial living.

Pros

You will become familiar with private equity terms and learn to appreciate working at a real firm (once you leave). I did meet several people with whom I still keep in contact.

Cons

It was a huge mistake to go to this 'firm.' The negative reviews of NYPPEX are completely true and at this point, illicit a laugh from me. Expect to work about 4-5 months and then be fired but at that point, you won't mind. I was unwittingly involved in a straight out deception of a potential client (at worse)/terrible business practice (at best). In fact, I kept a copy of the documentation of this deal for several years in order to protect myself. Prepared written outlooks and investor communications such as annual reports after a particular year had already passed (e.g. 2006 Outlook/Reports typed up in 2007) in order to validate Management's genius. Management is eccentric, erratic, and frankly bizarre. Also, don't buy the line about RSUs, you won't get that as nobody does.

Possibly you were a temp that was not offered full time employment (despite your VP claim) or you were one of the few that disagreed with our employee reviews. - Human Capital Group

Pros

Casual attire and location etc. Other than that, can't think of anything.

Cons

Dictatorship. Limited access to smart people. Salary is low, benefits non existent. Culture is too serious and restrictive. Strangest work environment I even worked in. Firm wants everyone to work for free to make owner a rich man.

We have internally discussed your review and have found no basis, facts or sentiments from other employees that support your negative statements. Our base compensation is commensurate with other financial service firms, if not outright generous. We promote a meritocracy as all employees enjoy valuable benefits including equity participation (RSPs), a 401k profit sharing plan and the opportunity to earn a substantial living based on performance. You sound like the same person that wrote a prior review or a temp that was not offered a full time position.
