I worked for Naturalists at Large on and off for 5 years. If you are interested in seasonal outdoor education work, they are a great option! Consistent work with opportunity to grow into leadership positions (Naturalist to Program Coordinator, Island/River Manager). Great way to see some of the most beautiful places in California. Pay is W2 based and the day rate is above industry average.
Cons
Weekend housing is not always provided, which can be stressful at times.

Structured schedule, good food, clear expectations, amazing to teach kids in different parts of California, given enough freedom to lead your group in your style, enough autonomy throughout week, good supplies for games, great locations, great people overall
Cons
Some program coordinators lack proper guidance on how to manage people, some systems inefficient, not always encouraged to try to help improve if you’re going to try new things
