This is not for everyone. You must understand that rejection and failure is also very much part of the ride here. And fanatical focus is paramount. The owners stressed this from the onset. They also stressed that the potentially huge rewards were not for everyone, just like anything in life that is worth a fight. (Not everyone is meant to be an Olympian or a successful business owner -- neither a good nor bad statement, merely simply a fact).
Of course from time to time there were problems and complications when managing accounts for a large Fortune 500 company; being compensated accurately for accounts you won, and so on. To my mind, I saw it no differently to any business out there that deals with sales and marketing where one is compensated for closing a deal.
I got that. Others perhaps didn't. Many things were unorthodox or unconventional, which is precisely the successful seed they planted throughout their organization in order to get ahead. Steve Jobs got it. (We all kind of know that his success was far from an easy ride.)
