Pros

There are no pros. Any culture benefits they tell you about while interviewing will be held against you if you actually use them. Everything you read about Nest and the CEO will draw you in, and it tricked me too. I should have run when they were discussing the flaws of former employees in my interview. It's a casual workplace where you're judged for "underdressing", and everyone who uses their "unlimited vacation" is considered lazy, unless it's the CEO. If you're one of the favorites you can do whatever you want, provided that you're willing to say yes to everything you're asked to do at any hour of the day. Employees are offered the "opportunity" to invest in the CEO's other companies as a reward for good behavior, at a stock price that she determines. HINT: It's not a real stock valuation. You'll be given a "holiday bonus" of the amount that you're expected to invest (which is taxed as income, naturally), and harassed endlessly if you decline. It's a naked cash grab that the upper management supports and enables.

Cons

All reviews should be taken with a grain of salt, except this one. Nest DC is a good concept being driven into the ground by the CEO. The culture is unbelievably toxic and it all trickles down from the top. Roles are not clearly defined and responsibilities are piled on with no change in compensation or training. Finances are highly questionable, but don't ask any questions. They're constantly scrambling to address the latest emergency with no thought about sustainable growth or a positive work environment. There's no possibility of meaningful success here, as rewards and punishments are handed out according to the CEO's mood on any given day. Run far, far away.

Pros

Some of the employees are great and the location is decent

Cons

The leadership at Nest is one of the most toxic I have ever come across. Every day I felt as though the leadership team was talking behind my back. When I started working there, I sat near someone who I really liked and we became friends. Leadership split us up because we were evidently too close and they didn't like it. Keep in mind we got all our work done and were really good employees, it was like being treated like a child. The owner will try to trick you into spending thousands of dollars on shares that you will never see returns on because you're basically just paying for her lifestyle. I know people who have been there about 7 years who have still seen nothing back on their investments. It's really shady. Additionally, if you don't cave and give them your money, the owner will snub you. What's worse is there's nothing you can do because HR is in her pocket (in fact, HR told me to expect to be cold-shouldered by the owner because I was opting out of the shares offer) so it doesn't feel like you can really do anything to protect yourself at all. All in all, I would avoid this place like the plague. The pay is horrible unless you snuggle up to the owner a ton but that is honestly soul-destroying. I have never been so stressed as I was when working here (including now, when I'm working from home during a global pandemic).

Pros

Great employees. All are hard working and ambitious people, any company would be lucky to have them. It's a hard field to work in and it's easy to get overwhelmed in the type of work you do here so the motivation and support of others were really great.

Cons

- Management style was disorganized and confusing to work under - There was definite favoritism which, in a 25 person company, is very noticeable - Management isn't entirely forthcoming and struggles to have meaningful conversations to critique their employees, meaning you are told one thing to your face (that you're great) but then find out in your reviews that you've been doing a plethora of things wrong. I would prefer to have been told about any issues they had with my technique right away instead of months later - I believe the company to be fiscally irresponsible based on the numbers we were given in our quarterly meetings and the money being spent on new office spaces and cars - The pay was not good for the work I was doing, particularly considering how much my work life bled into my social life.
