Another soulless company

Pros

Possible to make cash quick

Cons

Despite trying to put on a communal and family atmosphere, Netgain is anything but. The extent they care about their employees is as much labor they can squeeze out of them as quickly as possible. Despite constant communication from the top about values, they are rarely apparent in practice. Random business decisions, random firings and layoffs, and constant budget cuts make it clear where their priorities lie: not in long term growth but in the quick dollar. Employee trust has been eroded completely. Like most places where the culture is just for show, if you question authority or push back against the whims of the top suits, you're out in a heartbeat.

Not what once was

Pros

Honestly, if you do a good job and put in the 40 hours, its not a bad place to collect a paycheck. Also, with their growth rates and how much they've been firing people, easy to see good career jumps in the future. They also stock the fridge, and have lunches twice a week. Insurance is okay, pay is okay.

Cons

Those who do more don't get rewarded for it. I watched a coworker do two jobs for a year and when they asked for a raise, were told no. They've hired a few new C level "leaders" who basically feel the employees are underperforming and entitled. When I came here, I wanted to be here long term. They've change comp plans 4 times in the past 12 months, with each one resulting in lower actual dollars into reps pockets. They fired the marketing team, and then blame the sales team when numbers go down, the CRO hired his brother (who it seemed we hired the day after we made significant layoffs), and they've stopped caring about our clients. 18 months ago, this was an exciting place to think about working for the next 10 years, and with our growth it was easy to see a career path. Now it's "do what I say the way I say it," or get fired. People who question things are let go.

High Hopes, Disappointed in the End

Pros

Coworkers are fantastic. Smart and down to earth people on most teams.

Cons

I would not recommend this company to anyone looking for a supportive and transparent work environment. First and foremost, there is a severe lack of transparency in how decisions are made. Management rarely communicates openly with employees, leading to a culture of confusion and mistrust. Important decisions are often made behind closed doors without any input or explanation to the staff. Specifics include scaling back of health benefits requiring more money out of your paycheck, promised severance to employees was suddenly revoked, cell phone stipends cut, building bonuses into salaries and calling it a “raise” (so don’t expect a raise in the future), buying back employee stock. The benefits package is subpar, to say the least. The health insurance options are limited and expensive, and the company does not offer any meaningful perks or wellness programs. Parental leave is another area where the company falls short. The policy is minimal and does not support new parents in any meaningful way, even after fighting for a better policy. It was pulling teeth to get 8 weeks for women and 4 weeks for men. And the founders would obviously prefer there was no leave at all. They are not supportive of families or mothers. Another major issue is the behavior of management. Many of them are downright rude and dismissive of employee concerns. Feedback is not welcomed, and when it is provided, it is often met with hostility. There are constant promises of change and improvement, but they are nothing more than empty words. Employees are led to believe that things will get better, but those promises are never fulfilled. Additionally, the lack of career development and advancement opportunities makes it clear that this is not a place where you can build a long-term career. Overall, the work environment is toxic, and the company fails to deliver on its promises to employees. The company will promise the moon and talk about how they are different and they want employees to stay long term, but never deliver and even cut back on promises. I would strongly advise potential employees to look elsewhere.
