Pros

Working here allowed for acquirement of experience in a quick manner. Required the clinicians to be quick thinking and attempt to help the clients the best way possible.

Cons

Violations of legal and ethical regulation. Some of the workers established relationships with the clients that surpassed the dual relationship ethical code. They would use the students in manners that was unethical, from stating they provided services that they never did, to backdating notes in order to be compliant with county regulations.

Pros

okay wages compared to similar organizations (which isn't saying much), flexible schedule, good benefits, great direct service staff

Cons

internal racism, general lack of equity, leadership and higher paid positions are almost exclusively held by white folks, chronically understaffed, overworked and underpaid, high burnout, unsupportive leadership that resists accountability and change, out-of-touch board

Pros

Some staff genuinely want to help survivors. You can learn a lot if you network with other organizations.

Cons

Advocates barely make a living wage and are discouraged from working more than 36 hours a week, which results in an even lower salary. Then they are asked to "donate" their vacation to admin staff who are paid twice as much. Competent advocates leave within two years since there are zero advancement opportunities. Incompetent advocates are never fired so you end up surrounded by them if you stay too long.
