Disorganised communication and concerning safeguarding guidance
Pros
Flexible tutoring opportunities. Students appear to need support and work is available.
Cons
My experience during onboarding and initial allocation raised several concerns. Communication was inconsistent from the start. There were discrepancies regarding my stated availability, including being told I had agreed to start earlier than I had. I was also informed that a conversation had taken place which I do not recall having. This created confusion and made the process feel disorganised. There was also guidance in training suggesting tutors should attend a student’s home unannounced if lessons are missed. As someone with experience in FE/HE environments and safeguarding training, I found this concerning, and it contradicted their actual Safeguarding policy. I would strongly advise tutors to seek written clarification of safeguarding protocols before commencing work. Overall, the experience left me uncertain about internal processes and communication standards.
