Pros

HR is the only department up to a certain standard.

Cons

Developers all think they are gods. They think that most of them are graduates from UofT or Waterloo, so they must be better than anyone. They think they are even bette than those worldwide acclaimed developers and book authors. They think that they are from UofT or Waterloo, so they must be good at everything, including finance, investment, graphic design, management... everything you can name.

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate the opportunity to respond and clarify any misunderstandings. We hold development to high standards at NexJ Health, to build a feature-rich, performant and secured platform for our users. In addition to relying on our in-house experience and domain expertise, we embrace a culture of lifelong learning. Our company bookshelves are filled with books from world leaders in technology and healthcare. We encourage everyone to learn from both internal and external resources, share their knowledge with the teams and contribute to better our product. We are sorry to learn that you did not have the same experience. At work, the development team focuses on our craft: we strive to master the art of creating quality code and devising elegant solutions. We do not proclaim to be experts in unrelated fields; in fact, in our everyday work and personal interactions, topics such as finance or investments hardly ever come up. Our passions are healthcare transformations, beautiful code and friendly, team-building board games. Again, we are truly sorry that you had a different impression.

Pros

1. Great learning experience. Most of the tech stack is built from the ground up in javascript (Both front end and back end with the exception of some third party helper modules). If you are willing to dig into the framework, you will gain a tremendous understanding in every single aspect of software architecture. 2. Brilliant colleagues. It is not everyday you get to work with geniuses and talk to them about software development everyday. These are some of the brightest engineers walking on earth. They are always thinking of things in an extremely generic and reusable way. Occasionally you feel what they recommend in code review is too much of an over kill, but in the long run things do pay off. 3. Limitless opportunities and career growth. I have known people promoted from qa, dev, pm to managers and directors. As long as you are good at what you are doing, you will be recognized and awarded. 4. Long winter breaks! 5. Convenient location, fruit / snacks.

Cons

Things can get pretty stressful at times. Especially near project delivery dates. Sometimes people work on weekends to get things done. (On the bright side, you get extended winter break if you worked overtime.)
