Pros

Good teammates Open to comments Cares for developers grow Offer some extras besides the salary: $65 for any health-related bill, health insurance, a cellphone plan for $20, and a welcome package that includes a Macbook pro. (some only apply if you live in Nicaragua)

Cons

This is going to be a long review, but I will include some tips that could help anyone interested in Nicasource. To start off, everything related to salary needs improvement, just to mention a few: - I cannot stress this point enough, but when you enter the company is imperative that you negotiate a high salary because when you get an annual review and get a raise they always do it percentage base, so the higher your starting salary is, the higher raise you'll get. - Based on the previous point, this also means that the rule for the same job same salary does not apply in NS. Everybody has a different salary even when they do the same job. - Talk about salary is considered taboo in Nicasource. At some point, I had the opportunity to do some technical interviews for candidates applying to a new position, and when I asked about the salary for the position so I can have a better idea to recommend or not a candidate based on their level (Junior, Mid or Senior), basically they told me that I wasn't allowed to know what the salary was for the position. - They pretty much hire anyone based on a recommendation rather than skills and knowledge. Also, the recruiter happens to know "The perfect person for the job". So, in case you were wondering, yes, there is also nepotism inside NS. - They are not a remote-first company (many benefits only apply if you live in Nicaragua)

Pros

Clients are mostly nice people, they provide health and life insurance plus a health and wellness budget up to $65 monthly, you can work from anywhere and the schedules are usually flexible, they have an office in Managua where you can go working some times but not always, because there is no room for everyone, they also offer lunch either at the office or you can pick it up.

Cons

- There is not transparency regarding salaries, you have to be a good negotiator from the beginning, if not, you will find out others make more money than you, by doing probably the same you do. - You are obligated to complete some yearly goals they will sell as something for your growth but seems more of a benefit for the company. They will use those goals to evaluate you. - There seems to be some preferences for people who always work from the office. - PTO not flexible, they have a policy of take them or loose them every year.
