Steady Work With Room for Managerial Improvement

Pros

Nimbl is a relaxed, team oriented environment with steady (remote) accounting work. The team is a great team to get to know. The clients are awesome and the work can be challenging (in a good way). I like working for Nimbl and think there are major areas of improvement.

Cons

They have done a lot of restructuring over the past year or so, which is currently continuing. The CEO would like to think he is approachable, but I have found this not to really be the case. It will seem like they are upholding their part of a written offer letter, however, as time goes on, reviews won't be scheduled or will be missed, review of pay won't happen, etc. Though Nimbl prides itself on being in integrity and client service and they seem to have a great culture in writing, you will find that there is little team member support for difficult clients and an unapproachable, unbendable approach to their business and culture. You won't feel like they have your back and will often be met with we want to be true to our Nimbl culture". There are regular coaching calls with managers, but it has been my experience that if there is improvement to be made, your won't know about it on these coaching calls. In fact, you won't find out until it is too late and no opportunity for improvement or discussion around what can be improved upon will be had. Something they recognize, yet have chosen not to currently address. They will quickly overload employees with work as again, they are making a lot of changes to structure, etc. As far as benefits go, there are few paid holidays, some PTO for the right position and no benefits (medical, dental, vision).

Pros

I’ve only been at Nimbl for a short time, but I have been so impressed with the culture, work ethic, and general feel of the company. Nimbl truly cares about employees and has created an intentional culture, focusing on individual growth. My manager and I have had countless discussions on where I want to be professionally, and how Nimbl can help make that happen. I’ve been involved in many projects and experiences specifically because my team knows I want to gain certain skill sets. The trust they have given me in my role has been outstanding. Before I was hired, my manager and I had long conversations about what I needed in a job, and my position was tailored to fit those needs. As a working mom, that interest in my work-life balance has been so meaningful, and I am pleased to say that my manager has advocated for me to maintain that balance ever since. Nimbl is a start-up; it’s fast-paced and changing quickly, so there are many opportunities to develop one’s role and help the company grow.

Cons

Generally speaking, a “start-up” culture isn’t for everyone. And that’s okay! Nimbl is passionate about developing a great company, and being part of the start-up’s growth has been very exciting.

Pros

I love working at Nimbl! Management is invested in me as a person, my career and desires, and my alignment with the work I am doing. I have experienced both opportunities for growth and openness to feedback for the company as a whole and its policies. The people team is genuinely interested in listening to employees and creating solutions that work for everyone. My work schedule is flexible, allowing me to care for my children and handle my responsibilities at home as a single mom. Time off is encouraged and it is recognized that work/life balance is vital to success. The culture is unique and has affected my life in a powerful way, encouraging me to be a leader who sees herself as someone that matters. At Nimbl, we work as a team to accomplish amazing things. The work is fulfilling and offers challenges and learning. I have loved watching myself grow into my current position and have always felt supported along the way.

Cons

Sometimes working from home can feel a little bit isolated. However, the company does a good job of offering times to connect with other team members.
