Great people but be ready to jump in feet first!
Pros
I've worked at Nth Degree for a little over a year. The Nth Degree community is very supporting and kind. All managers I have had are very open to questions and encourage personal and professional growth. Many of the employees have been here for 10+ years, so that definitely speaks to the positive environment. From my perspective there is no micro managing. As long as you do your job and do it well, you have control over your own work. I personally work better this way and don't like people looking over my shoulder so it's very refreshing to be trusted by management. If you don't have good self-discipline and time management, do not work here. Getting to travel for work has been a real plus for me.
Cons
Be prepared to have a strained work-life balance during the lead up to large events. There is little to no training that happens. You are expected to jump in feet first and just figure it out. Everyone is so busy, it's hard to pin anyone down to give you advice. Often, I will be thrown into projects I have no previous experience with and it feels very sink or swim. As a company that started in labor management and has since moved to other aspects of event management such as marketing, consulting, expo management, speaker management, etc., the division between labor and events is very stark. There is not much intermingling between the two - it's almost as if we work for separate companies which saddens me.
