      An uncomfortable, sometimes hostile working environment

      Pros

      -Some beautiful work being done by talented people.

      Cons

      -Painful hiring process. -Furnishings and equipment were falling apart around us. -Work machines were unreliable and some of the software seemed dodgy. (I got a trojan alert when attempting to install some 3D software from their server) -I perceived and experienced a level of bullying from the leadership. -I was called a 'b*tch' by the founder within my first two weeks - it didn't get much better from there. -Employee relations felt strained, several snippy arguments and unpleasant undercurrents made for a hostile atmosphere.

      Pros

      - Friendly, talented people who care about making great work together. No dickheads. - Reasonable hours/flexible working from understanding senior management. - Approachable leadership that seem to genuinely care about their people. - Opportunities to work with major brands.

      Cons

      - There hasn't always been a culture of support for developing skills/career progression. This has improved a lot. - With almost a quarter of the company on the leadership team or de facto leadership, sometimes it feels like there are too many chefs in the kitchen. On the other hand, I've never run a kitchen. I don't know what the appropriate number of chefs is.

      Nice people and occasional interesting projects but not worth the stress and anxiety

      Pros

      -UNIT9 office is nice -A few really great people and it used to be a friendly, fun environment before the pandemic / wfh -A couple of good projects

      Cons

      -Projects are often not interesting and the output of the work isn't great -Some of the clients have very old fashioned ways of working and are ethically questionable -A lot of old-fashioned hierarchy, teams have no real sense of ownership and it felt like there was no room for suggestions and improvement -Long hours -Chaotic environment and processes -Most of the team is really demotivated and it felt like nobody wanted to be there
