(Assistant) Language Teacher cannot say no! This is the Informal company motto.
Pros
- You only teach at a few schools. - Salary isn't prorated.
Cons
- From the president downwards the company is largely disorganized, at times very unprofessional, grossly communicates via electronic mail regarding important matters. - Contract is irrelevant and you are seemingly coerced to do tasks outside of your contract and during your own holidays. - Most veteran coworkers are not helpful and cliquey. - Japanese teachers at your schools determine whether you keep your job or not. - Informal company motto is, ' You can't say no! ' - Japanese teachers can be very rude, poor at English and have no time to discuss anything. - Company is enforcing ALTs to be more like directly hired teachers by administering homework which is not normal for an ALT.- No to little job training. - Staff have mixed English abilities. - You are forced to eat school lunches. - A lot of the ALT teachers are not native English speakers!
