      Strong core values on paper, toxic work environment in practice

      Great benefits, fair compensation, lovely coworkers, and cool product.

      As soon as COVID-19 hit, the company went fully remote and this is where inconsistencies in the values of the company started to surprisingly show from the executive level. The CEO advertises her principles as part of the mission statement, but her day-to-day actions showed otherwise. Not only does she ignore feedback from her employees on well-thought-out and researched process improvements, but she is aggressive towards dissent in an unhealthy way. Thinly veiled passive aggressive-attacks towards others became a noticeable and frequent pattern. Example: several employees from different departments (sales, product, onboarding, customer experience) received an unwarranted group email notifying them that a deduction would be applied to their following paycheck because a client wanted to cancel their account. Instead of going with this approach the CEO could and should have taken this as an opportunity to assess processes, identify what went wrong, and address systemic issues rather than scorning all groups involved. Be prepared to be micromanaged and placed under high scrutiny if you speak up about your priorities or challenge the CEO’s way of thinking. The lack of clear or realistic direction from the executive team, as well as the general culture of fear around making mistakes, creates an incredible amount of unhealthy employee burnout.

      Poorly managed start up with no concern for its employees

      Pros

      - they burn through cash and have no sense of financial management, so you can look forward to a handful of expensive dinners before they disappoint you.

      Cons

      - For full transparency, I was laid off 3 weeks after starting. You may ask, "Why would they hire someone just to lay them off 3 weeks later?" The reason for this is because they have no real sense of how to run a company and are just staling for time until the company eventually runs out of money and fails. They market to a segment that's notoriously hard to convert (moving company owners) and I honestly don't see them being around 5 years from now. If you're considering a role with this company, don't. They have no real start up leadership experience and won't hesitate to make their problem your problem. I left a stable role to be with this company, and they laid me off within my first month. If you're the breadwinner of your household, I would highly advise you to look elsewhere (I'm not saying this out of spite either, but because I legitimately wouldn't trust my financial livelihood with these folks).

      Worst Company I've Ever Worked For

      Tons of SCAPEGOATING and BACKSTABBING within and across departments. Managers of certain departments are absolutely clueless and have no experience whatsoever in their role or department. My manager was so incompetant that despite me making suggestions on tried and proven solutions, continued to make bafflingly poor decisions that crippled the department. After which they scapegoated me as if I were responsible for their incompetence. Dung rolls downhill and it's painfully obvious that the founder/CEO has no clue or sense whatsoever about running or leading a company. There is also incredibly high employee turnover here. If you're thinking about working for Oncue, my best advise is to RUN. FAR AWAY. Save yourself as ANY company is better to work for than this one.
