Pros

Salary and benefits are important, of course, but I personally feel a need to be connected to what my company does. Watching incremental progress on a software product isn't enough. I have to be at a company with a purpose I care about. Onshape does something that I care about. Almost every new invention and product in the world is designed with CAD software. Every week at Onshape is different and interesting because we get to dive into the world of our customers who are in every industry (medical, machinery, consumer products, etc.) So I'm never bored at Onshape -- and quite frankly, everything else tends to fall into place when that criteria is satisfied. I'm surrounded by smart, talented, funny people and feel challenged. I feel that the company founders and executives are approachable, recognize my contributions and are interested in my feedback. Every month, the whole company is updated on our financial health -- which is important knowledge while you are at a startup. Based on other companies I have worked for, I think Onshape is generous with its benefits and insurance plans -- paying more than 90 percent of the premiums. Not having to worry about this is a huge deal. I believe the best days are ahead for Onshape and morale (at least in my wing of the building) is very high. On an unrelated note, the location is awesome. Five minute walk from the Alewife MBTA subway station and very quick and easy access to Boston.

Cons

* I'm not a huge fan of the Open Office concept, but that's a battle that's already been lost across the work world. * There is a shortage of parking onsite and this creates occasional inconveniences, but overall it is a minor nuisance to deal with given all the positives about the company.

Pros

- My top reason is exposure to top tier management, both middle management and our executive team. The caliber of the managers around me is outstanding. -I'm marketing but I know I'm probably working with one of the greatest engineering teams in the software industry. From the VP of R&D to our summer interns, the talent of this team is second to none. -Work on/with a great product, from UX to performance, it's clearly top notch (and everyone agrees... investors, employees, users, customers, press). Marketing is a lot easier when you're marketing a great product. That's what initially attracted me to Onshape. -Working towards a mission that's greater than self. Make no mistake, we're not changing the world and curing cancer (and no one has a false sense of righteousness, like we are), but we are changing the design and manufacturing landscape for the better. - We don't have a bulls**t culture. There are no nap rooms, teddy bears or candy walls at Onshape. Everyone here is an elite professional operative. The day we build a nap room, I'll quit.

Cons

- Startups are fun, but also stressful. I wouldn't issue this as a "con" because the stress load is good practice for me if I want to get to where I want to get in my career. However, it's not for everyone. This isn't a corporation with unlimited resources. Everyone here must contribute, on deadline and with limited resources. For me, that's part of the fun. But for others, it's not. - We are still early stage, but there is a lack of organizational structure than can be frustrating at times. I believe most of this is a growing pain. We are growing fast, and we're not slowing down.

Pros

Amazing culture with flexible hours, free snacks, and Friday "Demo Days" where everyone has the opportunity to showcase their work and support each other. Open office floorplan - as an intern I sat across from the CEO Opportunity to connect with extremely talented and experienced people. At a startup, you can get entrusted with a lot of responsibility. Even as an intern, I was treated like a full time employee. Opportunity to explore different types of jobs - within the marketing department I worked on analytics, web dev, and project management.

Cons

It's still a startup with a lot of room to grow. I'm not sure how much the culture will change 2, 5, 10 years from now.
