I worked at Ontario Power Generation full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Salaries, job security, sometimes interesting work

    Cons

Culture is regressive, passive aggressive, male dominated. If you are wanting to sit tight and leave at 5pm, great. If you want to improve things and grow your skillset, look elsewhere.

I have been working at Ontario Power Generation full-time

    Pros

Great pay, benefits and pension if FULL time, particularly if you join out of school. Reasonable hours and you don't take work home. The best pro was a forward thinking CEO who has since left the company.

    Cons

Company is shrinking so there is no internal movement, only rotations. No upward mobility. Toxic culture that does not believe in flexibility and depending on the division - does not believe in diversity. Do your research on the group you are joining as this matters. Management versus Union employees are treated differently and many management employees are subject to "drive by shooting" style firings on a regular...

I worked at Ontario Power Generation full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Compensation. Many good people. Benefits.

    Cons

Not enough tension in the system when poor leaders make bad decisions. Their rank is respected and flawed rationale may not be questioned. Lots of buzz phrases and flavour of the moment initiatives. Viable succession planning needs to be shored up.

I worked at Ontario Power Generation full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

good salary and benefits. Co workers are a fairly intelligent group of people. Strong unions for those lucky enough to belong

    Cons

Oppressive management. talk one way deliver a different way. very inconsistent performance expectations between groups. Favours a yes sir culture. Most of the management supervisors act like they have been anointed into the position rather than appointed. Code of conduct violations are not corrected.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the employee surveys and act responsively.
