Pros
It is a stable job if you need a 8-5/M-F. We get almost no holidays off so you'll get to make money those days... oh wait we get paid holidays? What holidays?! Management/supervisors of this department (record retrieval) are nice for the most part. I do like the manager, but I don't think they give her much to work with. 95% women (whether or not you consider that a pro/con)
Cons
This is just not an environment anyone truly wants to be in. It is depressing and insulting. I work in record retrieval and there is not ONE window in the entire department... it's suffocating. You get treated/trusted as a child running around with scissors. EVERYTHING you do is monitored! Your phone calls, computer history, you personally (there are cameras everywhere... including above your desk). You will feel judged if you get up out of your seat more than about twice a day, even though it's just to go to the bathroom or the printer. The parking situation doesn't make any sense and they're super hung up on it. Most spots you can park in are a 3-4 minute walk away from the office. Also, don't be even one minute late or you'll hear about it. You are not allowed to talk at all! I've never heard of a job when you're literally cranking out work 100% of the day... it's fine but we're treated like robots and not like people. They don't show any care or respect for us and I believe that's what contributes to the high turnover rate. I only know of a couple people within 3 departments who have been here more than a year. Management cares immensely about frivolous things. A girl wore a tank top in the middle of summer and the straps were like a centimeter too narrow so they sent her home... even though they hammer us about how behind we are and we don't even see customers. They try to pretend like they do fun things for their employees but they don't. "Pot lucks" are just when you drop off a food you brought on the way in and no one speaks about it. You can just grab food on your lunch or break, it's not a fun holiday activity where everyone eats together or something. I'll just list a few other things: - monotonous - call center environment - very low pay ($13.25/hr.) --I know of one girl who finally got a raise after 3 years and it was 50 cents... - micromanaged - no room for promotions despite them telling you there is (occasionally there is movement to different departments but not a promotion) - cannot bring your cell phone in - very poor communication between departments - unorganized system of doing things
