Pros
Generally interesting coworkers 30% staff discount after 3 months
Cons
MINIMUM WAGE with seemingly no opportunities for raises if you remain floor staff, even though it takes over 4 months to fully train a new person they will do absolutely nothing to retain staff. Stores are permanently understaffed, causing a vicious cycle of overworking the underpaid staff who then quit. The CEO is the most out of touch person I have ever encountered. He is like a cartoon of a rich landowner trying to mingle with the serfs thinking he is beloved because no one ever directly contradicts him. He creates an echo chamber around himself where he invites people to give him feedback but will publicly ridicule anyone who makes a remotely pragmatic suggestion such as “staff retention would be higher if we did not pay them starvation wages” or “sales are not currently increasing as much as projected because we are at the start of a recession.” Company claims to be diverse and inclusive but upper management has no interest in making “diverse” staff feel safe. Trans and non binary staff are routinely misgendered and told by upper management it isn’t a big deal. I recently discovered the manager of one location has been reported by half a dozen women for sexual harassment, with at least half of these reports having been made BEFORE he was promoted to store manager. Weirdly corporate environment, constant focus on sales goals and lots of criticism and pressure from upper management goes to store managers if sales targets aren’t constantly being exceeded. Lots of pressure on minimum wage floor staff to “go the extra mile” with customers as well as an expectation to spend an unhinged amount of unpaid time outside of work doing things like watching “visual podcasts” produced by the marketing department or researching new products.
