Pros

Meet and work with some great people Opportunity to help US DOD and other major commercial customers would be a great experience for a junior developer

Cons

Senior management is exactly as bad as the negative reviews on here. Bordering on abusive, any interaction with the senior management staff should be taken with a massive grain of salt. Before I started, I read a review two negative reviews - one mentioned that mentioned the CEO was aggressive and demanding which I actually thought of as positive. The other compared the CEO to an abusive spouse: praise and smiles one minute, ranting tirades and anger the next. I should have listened to the second review because it could not have been more accurate. Do not plan to make a career here. It is as bad as most of the negative reviews say it is - which can make for a very toxic work environment. In addition, the breadth and depth of the products are nowhere near what the CEO will make them out to be.

Management is aware of this specific situation. Orbis recently acquired two companies. Often when companies are acquired, employees are not comfortable with new management. As an example of our dedication to employee care, only one employee hired since 2018 has left the company. Every position at Orbis has a defined career path that usually manifests within 12 to 24 months with positive performance.

Toxic culture, low morale

Pros

You will learn a lot. You will work with some extremely talented people (given they haven't left the company). It was a sink or swim environment, but most people were very helpful.

Cons

Work life balance was non-existent at times. If you give them an inch, they'll take a mile. There were multiple employees who would pull upwards of 20+ hour days from time to time, sometimes for multiple weeks, and management (read: the CEO and COO) didn't care about overworking any of us. The company culture was toxic, morale was low, and most of upper management was oblivious yet still somehow micro-managed everything. The turnover was consistently high and caused a strain on employee morale. Upper management's view on remote work is archaic, ignorantly stubborn, and borderline negligent, especially when it came to inclement weather. Multiple employees were forced to take PTO during a state of emergency because their manager wouldn't allow remote work and the employees couldn't make it into the office.
