Pros

Reasonable wages, new buildings to work in and perks for logo wear.

Cons

Absolutely do not work here if you want to be allowed to take time off for a visit to the doctor, to care for a sick child, or to go on vacation. If you plan many, many months in advance, you will likely get time off but there is an absolute paranoia about sick days and other absences that is hard to understand. Work/Life balance is terrible and employees are pressured to work even when sick or recovering from surgery. Miniscule mistakes are heavily penalized and management is very poorly trained. Backbiting among employees is common and internal politics decide promotions, time off and other important factors. Favoritism is rampant as well.

Pros

Decent benefits, good retirement if you can hold out long enough. Company honestly cars about its members

Cons

Most positions underpaid compared to other companies. All departments regularly understaffed. Extremely difficult to get time off. Very conservative dress code. No option for work from home options. Meetings in which management talks to you like your a group of middle school children. Executive leadership's open door policy is all talk. Ineffective management that plays favorites and is iut to make themselves look good.

Pros

You will feel a sense of job security. Layoffs are uncommon because the organization runs lean. If you have a competent and trustworthy manager, you will enjoy going to work. The culture is well-developed and generally positive. The 401K match is very generous, and you can carry over and cash out PTO if you manage it correctly. The Executive Team is very engaged and visible. The HR department is supportive and approachable.

Cons

Because credit unions are not-for-profit, expect to earn 15-20% less than the for-profit sector, with wage increases at or just above inflation. Because the organization runs lean, additional FTE only gets budgeted when departments become overworked and understaffed. If you don't have a competent or trustworthy manager, you will probably not enjoy going to going to work. Absences are watched very closely, so even if a person has PTO available he/she may be penalized. It's very important to read and understand employee policies (which change periodically).
