Pros

Nothing good to say about this place.

Cons

If you look through the reviews for the last 1 year, you will find that after every 2-3 bad reviews, which usually criticize the founder/management and work culture, there will be 1-2 good reviews that praise/approve of the founder, and then under ‘cons’ section - justify tight deadlines, micromanagement, hectic work schedule in a subtle manner. Ask yourself this, are employees ever fine with being overworked, underpaid, disorganized, and micromanaged??? This is because these good reviews are all FAKE! They are actually written out by the founder/management and then posted by employees who are usually desperate to please the founder and management. Another red flag? All these good reviews are mostly written by interns or current employees, while the bad reviews are all written by former employees. And now that I have mentioned this, I am sure they are going to come up with different strategies for fake reviews. This should give you an idea of how fake and manipulative the work environment is. The only reason I am writing this review is to warn people so that they don’t make the same mistake as I did. Outline India, is a terrible place to work in! The work culture relies on a crash and burn approach for employees, employees are underpaid, there is no scope for professional growth, and overall, it has a toxic work environment. This is why most people leave every 9 -12 months. All the issues with this place are because of the Founder. Don’t believe all the Fortune 40 under 40, Forbes, and other tags. She is extremely rude, unprofessional, insensitive towards her employees, and has no morals and ethics. Maybe this is why she doesn’t trust her employees and thinks that they all have intentions like her, so she micromanages them. Overall, she is terrible to work for and is only good at manipulating her and her company’s achievements to portray a good picture. I was fooled by the website, blogs and all these strategies, just like her clients are fooled into believing they are paying for good data collection. I actually didn’t find any benefits of working for this organization except, learning to identify what bad workplaces look like, so now hopefully, I can identify these toxic places much more easily and avoid them. If you still want to give it a try, go ahead at the cost of your mental health and professional growth.

Pros

I’d rather be unemployed for life than to work for this company or the founder.

Cons

To begin with, the founder doesn’t trust anyone she hires and micro-manages every mail that needs to go out and she will never leave an opportunity to be condescending, rude, mean, abusive to you. The organisation fails to build even a below average employ base even after 10 years of its existence. I think the senior management (which basically means 2 people) really need to self reflect rather than just shining their pretentious fake personalities on linkedin. Except literally 4 people and the founder there is barely anyone I found who was working in the organisation for more than 4 months. People just keep coming and going because no one can stand the abuse and trauma they go through. Ironically, the founder who works for a social impact firm doesn’t have any understanding of mental health. The organisation also believes in violating human rights left right and centre. Also, just a heads up all these positive reviews that you see on glassdoor are all fake they are staged by the communications team to make the organisation appear not that bad. There are literal discussions about adding up “glassdoor testimonials”

Pros

Salara comes on time; I'm really scrapping the bottom of the barrel here. . I'll suggest you keep this as a last resort. Join the organization if you get nothing else, never stop searching for jobs when you are here and leave the moment you get anything else.

Cons

To start off, this is not a research organization, it is a data collection agency. You'll hardly ever be doing anything research related. It is mostly data collection and some basic data management. So, although some positions are advertised as 'research' based, have a realistic expectations that you'll predominantly be a glorified field manager and proposal writer. . The organization has extremely high turnover rate, which is kind of clear by always having open positions on offer, even though the organization does not grow. For my one year at the organiztaion, at least 12-15 people have both joined and left/fired. Although the company size remained constant at 20, by the end of the year, I was probably 7th most senior employee in the organization. Basically most people who work here are (presumably) constantly looking for other opportunities and leave the moment they find something. . Work environment is extremely toxic. You'll not be given any time to learn the ropes and be shouted at if you can't do thing the way they do at Outline. You're expected to work after hours without any recognition. Some employees who work at weekends and during leaves are praised publically to instill that as a model. It is 9 hour workday and you'll have no work-life balance. . The upper management (and especially the director) is very problematic; she is extremely impatient, arbitrary and impulsive. It was far easier to interact with clients than the boss. You're likely to develop PTSD if you have to deal with her closely.
