Pros

The benefits package is comprehensive and 403b contributions are generous. The employees are a great bunch of people with can do attitudes and willingness to help others even when upper management pushes them past the breaking point.

Cons

Upper management has been driving employees to work 70+ hours/wk. Many employees are soo over stressed that they even work during their days off and vacation time just so they don't fall behind and get punished/fired which is sad. Entry level employees are expected to do the same work as senior level staff but earn half or less of their salary. The non-profit culture that once existed is gone and being replaced by a for profit numbers not people matter culture. There are no promotion opportunities in any department except for Accounting and Financial Analysts so HR, BA, AP, CM better luck next time! The pay is good if you have been working here for more than 5 years since they actually gave raises back then. If you have been hired within the last 3 years good luck getting a pay raise regardless of having a stellar performance review. Most employees are actively seeking employment which says a lot about how the company compensates and values it's employees.

Pros

Great clients and programs serving the community based and public health needs of communities. Used to be a wonderful place to work.

Cons

The CEO, Nancy Kindelan and PHFE's executive management team are at their absolute worst. CEO is quick to judge, does not listen, can not admit when she is wrong, and rules with an iron fist.

Pros

PHFE is a non-profit focused on both initiating and supporting public health programs (it is rewarding to be a part of this). For the most part PHFE staff are friendly warm people. Benefits are very good (salary mediocre).

Cons

Salary (low for position type & low for hours worked). At times PHFE will work its employees like an investment bank or national accounting firm. It is great that PHFE is growing but it should make more of an effort to support its employees as it grows. CEO seems to support work-life balance but there is no oversight to ensure work life balance is actually protected. PHFE seems to jump into new systems and structures forcing many staff to consistently feel pressured to work 12-13 hour days and to work many holidays/days off. This issue is exacerbated by insufficient portfolio review and re-balancing of workload across available staff.
