Pros

PLD Space is one of those rare companies where the culture, leadership, and day-to-day work environment all align around a shared sense of purpose. From the moment I joined, I felt welcomed not only by a highly capable and empathetic HR team who ensured an incredibly smooth onboarding and relocation process, but also by colleagues across every department who are genuinely passionate about what they do. What’s even more remarkable is that I do not speak Spanish, and there are some colleagues who do not speak English, yet that has never once been a barrier to feeling included or supported. From engineers to operations to mission teams, people across the company have gone out of their way to make me feel at home, often offering help, guidance, or simply a friendly chat. The openness and kindness of the team speak volumes about the culture here. The team is composed of some of the most motivated, intelligent, and competent people I’ve had the privilege of working with. Whether it’s engineering, mission ops, commercial, or operations, every person here is not just skilled – they care deeply about the mission and about doing things well. There is no room for ego, and collaboration happens across disciplines with a natural fluidity that’s energising. The organisational structure is flat, non-bureaucratic, and deeply horizontal. Decisions are made quickly, ideas are welcomed from all levels, and there is a strong culture of ownership. You are given the trust and autonomy to lead your work, and performance is measured by outcomes, not by how many hours you sit at a desk. There is no micromanagement, just an expectation that you will rise to the occasion and own your results. For those who thrive in fast-paced, high-responsibility environments, the opportunity for growth is immense. You are encouraged to step beyond your role, contribute cross-functionally, and stretch yourself. Learning is constant, particularly through the kind of interdisciplinary collaboration that is hard to find elsewhere. On the softer side, the company takes employee well-being seriously. We enjoy incredible benefits such as weekly sports massages, a running club, padel sessions, and other wellness initiatives like company beach parties that reflect a genuine people-first approach. Flexible hours and a results-oriented culture make work-life balance not just a slogan, but a lived experience. PLD Space is, in many ways, the best of both worlds: a company with the technical maturity and track record of an established aerospace player, and the dynamism, flexibility, and sense of possibility of a startup.

Cons

This is not the right environment for someone looking to coast or stick strictly to a narrow job description. It is a high-accountability, fast-moving company where initiative, adaptability and ownership are essential. If you are not comfortable with ambiguity or prefer routine over challenge, this may not be the best fit.
