Pros

flexible work at home job

Cons

They pay by the minute so maybe you'll make $5 for the whole day of waiting. There are just a few real interpreting calls, mostly medical, very short, one or two minutes, but lots of calls from schedulers asking if you are wish to remain loggon on. Please don't bother working for them, find a real job with real income.

Depressing, horrible place

Pros

What we did was -good-; connecting hospitals to interpreters was a noble thing to do. It was nice to go home and feel like you hadn't sold your soul working somewhere meaningless.

Cons

The management of this place was unreal. This call center was run into the ground by folks who had never run call centers before, and by God they weren't going to listen to anyone's advice about doing it. Overtime was part of the culture, staffing was perpetually under, hardware falling apart; I was a graveyard supervisor here for about six months, and it's made me -never- want to manage, ever again.

Pros

Work from the comfort of home but it's like social isolation.

Cons

It used to be a good company to work for as freelance interpreter. They were flexible with schedules. They also paid a reasonable rate of 0.50-0.60 per minute. But Language Line Solutions bought Pacific early 2013. Now that Language Line is taking over starting Oct 2013, they are forcing freelance/ contractors to be so called "employees" and pay a ridiculously low rate of $14/hour. Not only the rate is now less than a quarter per minute ($14/60 minutes= $0.24), there will be no flexibility in schedule, no sick days, no paid vacation, no holidays. What a complete joke and disrepect to the interpreters. LLS has a revenue of 300 million per year, yet they treat interpreters like cheap labor. Does it make sense that they charge $2.5 - $3.9 per minute and pay interpreters $0.24 a minute? Such a greedy company. Good bye Pacific Interpreters and LLS, you're not the same company with quality interpreters anymore. Many of us are leaving.
