Pros

Standard salary, and some great people. Great place to start but progression plan should probably be to leave.

Cons

Fearful yes men for middle management, lack of trust and respect between executive and middle management, you might become on of the disappeared, some crazy ideas about how things should be done.

Continual professional development at Paxton is something we work hard to implement. We provide employees with the opportunity to develop their skills, offering personalised development plans to help people along their chosen career path. We run several initiatives throughout the year to give our staff the opportunity to share their thoughts including our annual staff survey, this feeds into ongoing positive improvements that benefit the company and our culture as a whole. We take feedback seriously and appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts.

Pros

Will spend money on company parties and events that look good

Cons

If your part of the 'in' crowd then the sky's the limit with salary rises, bonus' , extra holiday, promotions. If your face doesn't fit and your not prepared to play the game and suck up to managers then you wont be receiving a pay rise anytime soon.

Pros

I have worked at Paxton Access full-time for many years. The main office is modern with a decent canteen. Reasonable healthcare and pension provided. Some great people working there with pockets of excellence, which is one reason I stayed there so long. The company has the potential to be a great place to work, but held back by a lack of genuine and experienced leadership at top. I would recommend anyone to work there, but your experience will depend on where you land.

Cons

There is a culture of self-preservation in the higher ranks of some staff and directors, especially those who have been there decades and never worked anywhere else. This starts at the top with the CEO who likes to grab the limelight. He has some strange ideas on product development, surprising considering that he has no technical background whatsoever. The fallout of this is the high churn rate of experienced staff. Career progression from lower ranks is difficult, dependent on image and willingness to conform, rather then ability and merit. You have to be careful not to outshine and upset some there. There are many good managers and directors working there despite all this, trying to bring about change, but unfortunately the culture is set from the top.

At Paxton, we are committed to building a great place to work for all our employees. We are constantly looking at ways to bring the best working experiences to all our employees, across the globe. We have an open door policy and invite every member of our team at every level to give feedback for improvements. Annually we run a company survey with a third party provider to collect anonymous feedback on the 8 factors of workplace engagement; leadership, my manager, my company, personal growth, my team, wellbeing, fair deal and giving something back. Based on these results we have been thrilled to be listed in the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For the last two consecutive years. However, to be a great place to work we understand it is not a destination but a journey, which is why we are always listening to feedback and implementing change. In recent years we have used this feedback to improve our working environment, identify training requirements and introduce new family friendly policies. Continual professional development at Paxton is something we work hard to implement. We provide employees with the opportunity to develop their skills, offering personalised development plans to help people along their chosen career path, in recent years we have created ‘Career Pathways’ which internally shows the development of existing employees, and highlights where career progression opportunities are available. Our CEO is a great example of this, working in numerous technical and commercial roles over the last 23 years. For any of our employees who feel uncertain in their career path, we would advise them to speak with our Learning and Development Business Partner who is perfectly placed to support with their personal development goals and understand their opportunities within Paxton.
