Most leads are very insecure. When they have a subordinate member of their team is who skilled and outspoken but needs direction - rather than provide that direction they will be very passive aggressive towards that person.
It seems as though they think that person is going out of their way to challenge them, rather than trying to help them - unless that person actively chooses not to try and help them and says nothing.
Which in turn only causes that person to get frustrated and start challenging them - retroactively confirming the leads insecurity.
It's horrendously toxic for outspoken people, because you will be targeted by an insecure and unhelpful management if you dare to rock the boat to much, no matter how obviously well intentioned you are.
And if you just keep quiet, you feel useless, nothing improves and you will get frustrated and bitter towards people who "cause conflict" by being outspoken. It's a catch 22.
There are no pipelines.
Lots of back room gossip.
Project isn't very inspiring or original, and any attempt to try and elevate it above that will be met with a "it's not that sort of game" with no clarification as to "what sort of game" it is.
Basically, take the normal game industry problems and crank them so high the dial snaps off and smacks you in the face out of spite.
