Pros

Thorough training on perfumes and sales, so I felt prepared once I started the job. Exposure to various perfume houses and experience in sales. I like that my performance in sales is rewarded with commission and certain promotional bonus commissions. Your performance can easily be tracked through the daily, weekly, or monthly report.

Cons

Depending on the size of your store it can be boring when it's slow and if you're stuck with a micromanager even worse. Selling the "house" fragrances, you feel guilty once you realize how ridiculously up-charged they are. It's a sales job, so despite my passion behind perfume, it gets a bit draining when you're using it to up your funds at someone else's expense/ignorance of perfume.

There are worse retail jobs out there. The commission is nice. Free meals during busy season.

Cons

No work life balance. Schedule constantly changes. Rude customers. Workaholic culture.
