Pros

Harbour Island office building is right on water, offices just upstairs from Jackson’s Bistro & American Social, & Starbucks. Waterfront area provides nice peaceful break away from ongoing work drama. As a Health Coach you will make monthly bonuses based on your talk time. To qualify you are expected to make 11-15 hours worth of calls a week so If you enjoy being on phones all day while micromanaged, this could be for you but please read on

Cons

They have been remodeling a new office space for almost a year and it keeps getting pushed back. So in the meantime all staff, including Member Service, Marketing, IT and middle management are all working within one small 2000 sq ft space with no cubicles or private offices. So you were hired to make calls, everyone will hear your calls and your work flow and you will hear everyone else’s. Within this tight space, the atmosphere is hectic and tense. A Management insider revealed to my team all supervisors and management were instructed to not speak to us Health Coaches. People around us were literally ignoring us, making us feel inferior. Upper management, who forms their own clique, constantly entertains random outside guests you will never know or speak to, who come and go to the small conference spaces distractingly while you are trying to speak to your Members. Because of the ‘Us vs. Them’ mentality, it was not unusual to watch managers hanging out, laughing in conferencing room, enjoying non-work related time on their cell phones while the ‘worker bees’ slaved away. As you’ve already read from disgruntled interviewees, the interview process is lengthy. No one seems to be interviewed and hired in less than 3-5 weeks. If you only have average looks, then good luck. The company prides itself on cultivating a specific culture, which basically includes hiring young 20-something attractive females. In less than 6 months I was there, I saw much turnover, with 2 supervisors leaving and 4 fellow staff not lasting more than 6 months. As a Health Coach you will be overwhelmed with a roster of more than a 1000 Members you are personally responsible for calling. There will never be a lack of work lol. As I mentioned in Pro’s there is a bonus structure that is very steep, involving making more than 15 hours a week of talk time. If only they measured success by calls made instead of talk time. To desperately make their numbers and compete with each other, staff members feel pressured to get away with padding their talk time by making many unnecessary calls to vendors, nursing homes and hospitals and seizing any opportunity to keep Members on the phone longer. This did not ensure quality, only ridiculous quantity. Management will treat you like you are a machine, micromanaging over your shoulder, monitoring your calls several times a week and then having weekly meetings with you to address why you have not made your numbers. Their management style is confrontational, to accuse first without proof and ask questions later. I was “promoted” to a Trainer role, given new responsibilities to train and conduct on-boarding for all newly hired Health Coaches. Once more Health Coaches were hired and trained, Management assured me they were looking to hire a new manager for this team from within. This was not the case, as I found myself providing the training to a new team member, who was hired from the outside and specifically instructed not to reveal to me or the team for almost a month, that he was hired for the Manager role I was hoping for. Now performing two roles, as a Health Coach and Trainer. I was not given any extra pay, nor exception for not having the time to produce enough talk time to make the Health Coach quota and was asked to sign a disciplinary notice with a 3 strike structure. As a result, I was stripped of my Training duties and back to only being a Health Coach. I decided to work harder and had a successful 1 on 1 meeting with my supervisor, who praised me for my improvement. The next day, despite the praise and recognition of improvement my supervisor told me I was fired after 1 strike because I was not blending well with the culture. Should you choose to still work here, I guarantee that when/if you start there, your supervisor and co-workers will be gone and replaced within 4 months and not for legitimate reasons.

Pros

Some of the employees are great New office is cool but that's not a reason to work for a company

Cons

LOW pay. Benefits aren't great PTO sucks - they make you take mandatory PTO (using your days) All the men directors (who barely know what is going on in the company) got promoted to VPs, no women. They expect you to work 24/7 ("work is most important in life") Culture is absolutely trash, starts with the president of the company Leadership is VERY cliquey and rude Lots of family / related employees, some that aren't qualified for their jobs Sketchy things going on with their wholly owned clinics (probably not legal) The attrition rate is like 60% if that tells you anything. Advise you to look elsewhere for a job - save yourself the headache.

Pros

Absolutely ZERO pros. maybe only that i learned what NOT to look for in an employer.

Cons

- terrible compensation/benefits/PTO - awful leadership - will throw unnecessary projects in your face without explanation & then will get upset if you ask questions - super sketchy stuff is done behind closed doors and you are forced to do things that are completely unethical - you are only the messenger, yet you still get tormented by provider's uneasiness with physician partners rules & regulations - extremely unreasonable when it comes to deadlines for providers / not understanding at all - they believe that work should be your life, you will EASILY work 60+ hours a week - no appreciation for what you bring to the table - there is NEVER any recognition - it's always pointing fingers to what you are doing wrong - I would rather be broke and homeless, living on the streets, than work for this company... and that Is saying a lot! -no opportunity for advancement. -EXTREME MICROMANAGING!!!! like insane. updates every few HOURS on what you are working on and questioned if you do not accomplish something. even if you tried. ...i could go on and on. DO NOT WORK HERE. NO MATTER WHAT.
