Pros

The product team at Front Desk should be very proud. They have built a platform that is extremely compelling and is a clear winner in the marketplace. The platform provides a genuine way for business owners to save time, money, and headaches in managing their business. Pay can be competitive and there are real opportunities to make good money, depending on the department you work in. Benefits are excellent. Whether you're an individual or have a family, your premium won't be very high. They also provide monthly reimbursements for travel. Location is great. Centrally located with great restaurants to choose from. They have several parking spaces available, if you can get there early enough. Free street parking is abundant too.

Cons

Leadership has failed - catastrophically. Founders and executive leaders are either leaving or being forced out. The company went from rapid growth mode to survival mode in a matter of weeks. Sales reps are being demoted without reason and success and support staff have been let go, leaving new accounts with nowhere to go. The company is experiencing monthly waves of layoffs to try and scale back. They are also cutting pay for existing employees while increasing expectations. A special mention goes to sales leadership, which has become truly disgusting over the past 4 months. All decisions are rooted in favoritism and mind games, and have little to do with performance and/or impact to the company. It doesn't matter if you exceed expectations. If you question management, you'll be positioned to fail and will either have to leave or will be fired. It's a sad situation.

Pros

The product is well reviewed. The location is great. Talks with the Leadership team seem transparent but often they just inform why a decision is being made rather than discussing it beforehand.

Cons

I worked there over a year and I saw about an 80% turnover of employees (including the leadership team and co-founders). If you didn't leave on your own, most people got laid off during department cuts or pushed out one way or another. People on the sales side got fired if they didn't meet their numbers, I also saw over 4 directors of sales get fired within a year. It creates an environment where nobody feels safe in their current position. If you want to work for the Amazon of startups this is your place. I got hired for my expertise and then often would not get involved in department meetings. Even though it's a small company many employees play their cards close to their chest.

Thank you for your comments about our product and office location. We strive to create a positive experience for our employees. We'd like you and others to understand, we’re a classic startup. Leading Front Desk through transitions in its business lifecycle is not easy, or obvious. We learned over the past nine months that the same methods that produced success in earlier stages, created threats to our survival in the next. Fundamental changes in leadership, management and talent were required. As such, we have made significant and planful changes throughout our organization, starting at the top and with a focus on people and process improvement. We will continue to evaluate ourselves, and be unrelenting in our quest for leadership. We owe this to our employees, customers and shareholders. Thank you for your feedback.

Pros

Location is good. Casual dress code. There used to be a lot of cool people to work with. A few are still here but most quit out of frustration or got fired without a performance plan or training.

Cons

Upper management is incompetent. The positive reviews before this were obviously written by management. The product looks good, but is difficult for most clients to set up when they buy it. If you're a client, have fun getting any type of support. Self service model lol. Upper management team hires new managers that don't know how the product works and immediately gives them full reign to make decisions that screw over clients and internal employees. CEO is smart, but lacks the communication and leadership skills to unite different departments and create any type of vision employees will get behind. Radical transparency is preached, however difficult conversations and topics are avoided in meetings. There is no training, and then people get fired for underperformance.

Thank you for your feedback. I would urge you to talk with your direct manager about your concerns. If you're uncomfortable with that, please seek out someone on our senior management team, or talk with a member of our HR team. Our senior leadership works hard to create a company where people are valued and feel empowered to learn and grow. One’s character is as important as one’s abilities, expertise and experience, and in practice, even more so. We do not apologize for applying high standards in our products, services, processes and people. Our customers deserve our discipline in this regard and our new programs on redesigning the company to improve our customer experience and having a Director level staff as champion of the charge is a testament to that. We will maintain our focus. Please know that at Front Desk, problems are normal and desirable. We treat them as a natural result of continuous change. We recognize that change and the startup environment are not comfortable nor desirable for all people. We have improved dramatically in the prior months in our selecting and retaining those who share in our values and journey. As we lead our business forward, our focus is to constantly accelerate our ability to recognize and resolve problems and work together as a team to quickly tackle any and all situations, or decide not to. This mindset is driven by our values and people, especially our CEO and senior leadership, and is the nexus of our competitive advantage. Thank you for your feedback, and for your service with Front Desk.
