Pros

Pay was okay working at Boeing Long Beach C-17 program. $17.23/hour (armed)

Cons

Unbelievable policies! No round allowed in the chamber while working (they called it carrying warm; more like carry dead cold). The company didn't encourage actual security work, they mandated around 100 detex hits while on patrol! No lunches! just two 10 minute breaks (They were sued and to ditch the suit they re-organized under different name/ corporate structure) Management was all one race, and they catered directly to their "click." Overboard with rules and regulations. If you were part of the "click" then you didn't have to obey the rules, if you were not part of the "click" you were held accountable for every little thing. For the record I was never written up, but saw a lot of good people slandered and fired! Worst employer ever!

Pros

PGS is a great place if you want to gain job experience. You have the ability to become proficient in probationary related drills, acquire your Class B license, and participate in other training. Pay is better than that you would receive working for a private ambulance company.

Cons

Being confined to the gates of an industrial facility, work can get pretty dull and boring. Don't expect to fight any fire while working for PGSFD. There is a low morale among employees. Management completely lacks professionalism. The company is ran as a security company, which it is. Favoritism is shown to employees. Write-ups, suspensions, and terminations are given to some while others who commit equal or worse offenses go untouched. Leadership lacks experience and education. Company does not look out for its employees. Horrible place to work, steer far clear.

Pros

The pay is close to top of the line for security work. There are plenty of contracts which offer flexibility for shifts and work locations.

Cons

No room for advancement and the management almost always goes outside the company to hire someone, rather than promote within. Officers usually never get raises unless it's built into a contract.
