Pros

Great Customer Base, Well Run Base Power Plant, Great Field Personnel, Nice downtown working area, Good Cafeteria, Covered Parking downtown,

Cons

Cost cutting is not a strategy, a long term tactic, or a new innovative idea. The current employees are literally unrecognizable from just a few years ago, but the media is strangely silent on the continuous layoffs that occur there.

Pros

Competitive salaries, good benefits, very competent front line employees.

Cons

The culture in just a few years has become this being a great company to work for to a company where you just want to come in, do your 8 hours and leave it all behind. I made some great friendships and were involved in some amazing projects during my time at APS. It all started going downhill as a company when Mr Post retired. Loyalty somehow became a disdained attribute from leadership. When executive leadership was replaced by the new CEO, with what I call "gunslingers' the writing was on the wall. The capable and competent company from a mere few years back changed with the culture brought in by the replaced executive leadership. I actually heard a VP tell a mid level manager he must not be motivated because he had been with the company for over 15 years and must be content with the status quo. I was replaced by a program I implemented and was only told I was going to be replaced when a coworker and I responsible for the department budget discovered a shortfall in the pending year budget. As a retired military veteran I find no honor in this company or in the majority of mid range managers. The mangers and directors left after the vetting of leadership are for the vast majority, spineless "yes" persons (who I do not blame if they want to keep there jobs) incapable of an independent thought that executive leadership would let them implement if they did. I could go on

Pros

The company has good benefits and the location is acceptable. They are trying to improve their culture.

Cons

They are too byreaycratic and political. They are extremely slow to accept change. Leadership is focused on their own survival and retirement. Change and improvement are almost impossible, and if their is a cost associated to the improvement, might as well drop it. Looking for followers, not change agents.
