"You don't matter, wage slave"

Pros

Most of the upper management are so unbelievably incompetent they have no idea what their staff are doing, so you could probably just surf by doing absolutely nothing as long as you had some good excuses. Also no one understands any of the systems so it doesn't matter of you aren't qualified or even literate, no one is going to notice

Cons

Platform recently announced they were moving to a banded salary system, to great rejoicing from staff who had been trapped under a glass ceiling for years. We were told all jobs would be assessed and we would then be assigned to bands. It wasn't until after this had taken place we were told that A. This wasn't pay bands, it was a salary restructuring and bands would never move again, even if you worked there forever. This was raised at our laughably powerless employee forum (where we're invited to air our grievances and then get told to shut up and like it because otherwise they can replace us) and the response was "well, we can always find someone else to do your job just as well - loyalty and hard work is meaningless, you're a wage slave to us and nothing more. We don't care if you die in this place." I'm paraphrasing slightly but regardless... Of course, extremely senior management walked away with massive pay rises as a result of this exercise, while everyone below them paid for it. I cannot think of a more offensively money grabbing, vile, self centred, incompetent, hateful pit of a place to work. Don't expect it to be Platform long though - every time they get some bad press they merge and pretend the old organisation doesn't exist, just check the reviews on here for Waterloo Housing if you don't believe me

Pros

Left to get on with the job and have pride in doing a quality job.

Cons

Management of acceptance of being a multi skilled Tradesman when completing jobs as a contractor 3 months before been offered permanent contract as was happy with my workmanship. When I joined organisation the company decided to pay me apprenticeship money so I could prove to my manager that I was able to complete jobs correctly to the standard that Platform Housing required I was on my own all the time therefore not been paid as a Carpenter Multi skilled Tradesman to which to me this was an insult as I forfilled my obligation in this job role in doing a quality job and my my reward was less wages and Self worth. The manager offered Olive branch saying after my probation period then he didn't feel I was good enough and must continue to prove my self worth and he never looked at any of my jobs and frequently requested photos of before and after photo, s to prove I am qualified and capable of doing the job. The increase in pay was denied hence the reason for leaving.
