I worked at Playful Pack for about 4 months and quickly learned that the business owners have little care for employees and dogs; they're only interested in making money. One business owner's dog repeatedly caused fights and bit employees, but the owner continued to force employees to watch their dog without notice. When an accident occurred with a regular client's dog, the business owners told employees they were "unavailable" to help clean up and respond to the incident. They also laughed at the client's request for vet assistance and psychological support. Daycare attendants are not given breaks, even to eat meals, and are paid $12/hr in areas with very high costs of living. There is a reason the franchise hasn't made its way into the actual District - the owners refuse to pay their employees a decent wage. They also never sent W2s to employees, which is technically illegal. *While I worked at PP, there were also rumors that business owners discriminated against deserving employees on the basis of their disabilities, ethnicity, and other identity-based characteristics. If this is true, I hope it has since been addressed.
