Pros

Some of the staff are truly great and helpful. Pre-Covid there was a good after work culture, good staff training programmes in place. Regular organisational meetings. Job progression is possible but you do need to force the issue. Pockets of great teams, finance is a well oiled machine, IT and investments can also be mentioned in the same sentence. There is a true feeling at times that the company deeply care about staff, if there is personal stuff going on at home. PoolRe is definitely appreciates we are all human. I would say it's been only a handful of places that truly understand that. Some nice executive team members. Expenses are somewhat lenient owing to the behaviour of the 'bad' eggs. But if you can't beat em join em... Lovely offices and spaces. Family feel at times and there is an all in this together approach. When I first joined there was a massive CSR push and the company frequented to Age UK. This was something that made everyone in the company proud to work there.

Cons

An ageist company, a person who is 40 with 5 years experience in a role, will be paid more than a 25/30 year old with the same experience. Renumeration and bonuses aren't linked to any performance criteria or appraisal process the executive decide where to distribute the money and it's usually who shouts loudest gets the most for their team. A celebration culture of those who can't do their job but can talk a good game, these colleagues are usually applauded and supported rather than celebrating the employees that can actually do the job. Colleagues have been forced to leave jobs owing to their treatment by line managers etc, this bad behaviour is not punished. If fact the person in question was given a promotion. CEO as CEO's go he is a nice guy, the issue is if you keep going back to the cookie jar eventually someone is going to spot you and report you for what you took. Company diversity is a joke, just look on the website...... Hire the person who's best for the job not the one who served with your mate in the army who just so happens to be a white male.
