Pros

Good experience in behavioral health for right out of college but ONLY temporary and must be prepared to work with very aggressive kids. Other than that, I don’t recommend. LOW pay, especially for dealing with kids who can hit, kick, bite, spit, pee, cuss, etc. at you. If you’re not a therapist, watch out because they’ll treat you like a peasant. VERY HIGH turnover rate, be ready for people to constantly quit and having to pick up the slack.

Cons

This company has a LONG history of taking advantage of young college students and then overpaying management and admin where some have lower degrees than them. If you think being a loyal employee or working there for a long time will get you a raise, forget about it. Ageism, toxic work culture, and favoritism. They have a “no gossip” policy but the “LEADERS”, are the biggest gossipers. They are 2-faced and will talk behind ALL employee’s backs and laugh about it together. If you have a different opinion than any of them, watch out because they will get upset and retaliate. It’s also a very small office so the gossip in general is just rampant and there have been cases or bullying where management does not handle it correctly. If the main “leader” is “mad” at you just because you simply shared your opinion or disagreed with them, they will ignore your existence completely or call you out in front of other management or colleagues to try to make you feel inferior. Management will twist any narrative they want out of any situation to make them look best – like an awesome staff member just simply speaking up for themselves will be twisted into management saying they are the worst. This work environment is immature, unprofessional, and honestly mean spirited due to management. It is beyond sad that a behavioral health facility for kids has this type of work environment for the staff working so hard to help kids and families. Management is also too scared to approach certain staff for being too aggressive (verbally or physically) with the kids, but will reprimand other staff for the smallest things. Again – LOTS of favoritism.

Pros

Rewarding working with kids and making a positive change in their lives in a safe environment Pretty good benefits Friendly coworkers

Cons

Originally took the job even though it pays less due to them stressing in the initial interview how much they value work life balance. In my time being here however I have not found that to be the case. I have consistently worked long hours including whole weeks of 12 hour shifts. I'm often expected to take my work home with me as well as work on weekends with no increase to compensation. There is minor favoritism with senior Therapist having a smaller case load and being able to leave work early but newer Therapist being overloaded with work. In my time there I think I was only able to leave early maybe 3 times. Most nights I'm there for 2 hours past my shift. Worker retention is terrible and we are short staffed. There doesn't appear to be any real attempt to remedy this. Therapist are expected to handle too many tasks for the limited amount of time we have. The kids are sweet if a bit frustrating at times but many parents expect you to just "fix" there kid with no work on their part. Upper management and HR are pretty much non-existent and ignored issues brought up by supervisors and employees. They messed up my benefits for months before resolving the issue. Documentation is a mess and you will often get contradictory corrections on notes. Feels like the company values maximizing profit more than client outcomes.
