Pros
Fellow developers are supportive and friendly. BA generally supportive and nice.
Cons
Manager I worked with only cared about the BAs and traders, but not really for the developer. Even though they are a subsidy of BC Hydro, Powerex has no union and therefore any unfairness to the employees does not always get addressed. The BA I worked with was dismissive and constantly makes fun of fellow developer not caring about their feelings. When we first started online meetings, the BA laughed at how one of the developer room looked like, the developer stopped showing video image since but was forced to do so later since management asked everyone to show themselves on video. There was constant back talking that leave the victim in the dark. Traders have the rights to be mean to others. That culture is allowed because they are in high stress and bring the company most of it's money. If you can't stand, it's not a place for you. There are respectful workplace courses they make everyone take, but there are people who don't follow it and use gray areas to abuse others. You are basically stuck with these people rather you like them or not. There is rarely collaborations outside of what the manager allows you to do. Since the size of the company is relatively small, there isn't much of a upward opportunity.
