Pros

PRL is a company is a good starting off point for a young person in need of experience or a stopgap option when unemployed and desperate. The general workforce is staffed with very nice people. There is a small but noted effort to fix the massive problems plaguing the company but not nearly enough is being done in terms of scope or speed, because it is the utter incompetence of the people in charge who are the root of every problem.

Cons

Premier Research Labs once had potential to live up to the name, but now it is not “premier” at all and performs no research because the laboratory is practically defunct since the leadership has no idea how to run a laboratory, let alone do research. Almost four years under the leadership and not a single scientific publication. The Quality department has lost so much internal experience over the last year from employees leaving (more like fleeing) for better opportunities. 25 years of experience lost in a single department spread over about 12-15 employees who have quit in the last year, and the CEO is totally unaware because the management doesn't tell him. The most high ranking people at the company after the CEO are utterly unqualified, fail at everything, they know it, and so does the entirety of the workforce except the CEO. They put his philosophical whims and their own reputations above the safety of the employees and the success of the company. He has no idea just how much peril he is in from a regulatory standpoint due to their incompetence and far worse, their malicious tendencies to protect themselves from the ambitions of the rapidly thinning herd of far more competent lower level employees so as to not be exposed as detrimental to the company to the CEO. Luckily for them the CEO keeps himself intentionally closed off from all the actual day-to-day functions and is willfully ignorant of who some of his veteran employees even are or how they contribute because his management team doesn't heap praise on anyone but themselves. They have exclusive access to him and naturally paint themselves a rosy picture as invaluable leaders by stealing credit for all the low level employee's hard work and ideas, and by placing blame on everyone else and on overbearing government regulations for all their myriad mistakes. Nobody dares go around management to report their incompetence to him because they will fiercely retaliate. Upper management excels at one thing only: playing the CEO like a fiddle, because he pays them so ridiculously well while everyone who suffers through and makes up for their incompetence get scab wages. In addition, the CEO openly disrespects women, minorities, and overweight people. You will feel expendable. You will feel undervalued and overworked. You will feel paranoid. You will feel unsafe. You will feel frustrated at the rampant dysfunction. You will not be offered a proper salary until you put in your two week resignation. My advice to current employees is to do that, even if bluffing. After four miserable years dealing with insidious and woefully incompetent management, I could not recommend this place to anyone except those truly desperate for a paycheck, and it will not be much.

We recognize that our employees are the heart of this company; we appreciate their hard work and through them, we continue to gain new perspectives and insights. Although we realize that it is impossible to please every employee, we do our best to cultivate a pleasant, encouraging, thoughtful working environment in all departments. We would like to acknowledge our outstanding department managers who go the extra mile to promote friendly teamwork in their departments and to make the employees feel appreciated and recognized for their contributions.

Pros

Most of the people who work there are very nice, and extremely hard working. The location is good for eating out or shopping during lunch, that's really all I can come up with for Pro.

Cons

Literally everything else. This was my first job out of college, and it was an eye opener. After now working at normal, reputable companies, I can see how bad the environment at PRL is. What everyone else has been saying is right on point; no personal time, no sick time, no vacation time, and very, very few paid company holidays. The turn over rate is the worst I've seen in any company since, seemed like people were being fired every week. There were no company functions to show that you're appreciated as an employee (I don't count the lunches and lectures because no one enjoyed those). And the micromanaging of the owners is still the worst I've ever dealt with; cameras everywhere, no vending machines allowed in the building (because sugar is evil), forced to listen to pre-approved music over the speakers, etc. If you have other employment options, I would strongly consider those.

Bob Marshall is not a doctor

Pros

Most of the people you work with are generally nice and easy to get along with. The building is nicely kept and they run reverse osmosis water out of every tap in the building.

Cons

Where to I begin? The Owner, Bob Marshall is a fraud and misrepresents himself as a doctor. He received his 'PhD' from Colombia Pacific University... a school which went out of business in 2000 for being 'a diploma mill which has been preying on California consumers for too many years.' The owners of this company try to constantly micro manage every aspect of their employees lives. It's mandatory that you work 40 hours a week and you are allotted no vacation time in your first year (honestly, who wants to stay for more than a year?) and 40 hours of unpaid leave. If you go over your 40 hours of unpaid leave, you risk termination. The mobility is extremely limited. The employees that were there for years essentially worked in the same positions as when they started.
