Pros
Allscripts EMR Interesting and often complex patient population Certain amount of flexibility to exercise one's practice style (as long as you hurry up). Many smart and savvy professional coworkers
Cons
ProHealth bought up a lot of small practices, then UHG bought up ProHealth. Folks went with ProHealth for less than former pay, to promises of better working conditions and more patient time and admin time. Promises made a year ago are not bearing out. For ex., we're going from 20-minute visits to 15 in the coming months. The compensation model, rather than bonusing above your base pay, will now "allow" you to earn the top 10% of your base pay by meeting certain milestones---like 95% patient approval rating! We can please absolutely everybody, right? Supposedly, "the providers designed this model." Actually, a hand-picked group of corporate stooges put this model together. Would it surprise anyone that the medical "leaders" try to put a chill on open discussion of these matters? Most of us take a great deal of work home. This will get worse. Several mandatory meetings AFTER HOURS every month. Very stingy health benefits--From the wealthiest "health" (read: INSURANCE) company in the world. UHG is the very portrait of why the profit motive needs to be removed from the U.S. healthcare system.
