Pros

The culture at Prodeo is based on the Prodeo PRIDE values (Perseverance Respect Integrity Development Enthusiasm). Prodeo's goal is to instill this PRIDE mindset so scholars can build life skills and become positive leaders outside the Prodeo doors. From the moment you step through the front doors, you will feel the passion this school has for students to succeed and close the opportunity gap. Throughout each week, expectations are held high for each student through rigorous curriculum and positive behavioral practices. In return, students hold high expectations for the staff as well :-) (checks and balances). Each Friday, a celebration takes place through Community Meeting (school assembly), which holds individual and class recognition. Staff relationship and culture has been the greatest strength Prodeo has to offer. Every Friday, Prodeo provides an opportunity for staff members to "shout out" each other for accomplishments, unseen positive work, and strengths, recognizing individuals for a job that may often receive little recognition in this world. This time creates a sense of unity, trust, relationship and understanding between a group of diverse staff members. Whether an educator needs support with curriculum, classroom materials, concerns, classroom management, whatever it may be, administration will take the time to listen, understand, and act on the needs of their educators.

Cons

Recess space: Administration was dealt a poor hand where outdoor space is concerned; they do the absolute best with what they have, however, the reality still holds true. STEM (or STEAM): With the exception of math, thanks to the new Eureka curriculum, STEM, along with social studies, is often pushed to the back burner. ELA: There's no doubt Prodeo receives positive results in reading scores, however, the students and teachers work very hard to earn those scores; the students deserve a more sound, relevant curriculum. It sounds like there are plans in the works, which has created a very high praising buzz at Prodeo. Building space: As a successful, growing charter school with high enrollment, there is limited space. It sounds like there are plans to build/expand in the near future, which will definitely be appreciated from everyone in the Prodeo family.

Bad Adult Culture

Pros

The scholars are amazing. The school building is new. Pay is above public school, but not above other Charter schools by a long shot.

Cons

While many staff at Prodeo are absolutely amazing, there are still too many adults that ruin it. Gossiping, hating on everyone, talking poorly to you, running to your boss instead of having meaningful conversations, and coming into your room and undermining you. It becomes horrible rather quick.

Pros

Being able to leave and work elsewhere where it's more financially stable

Cons

Top heavy "senior management" No fiscal accountability, like bills don't get paid, sometimes the health insurance was at risk for not paying the invoices
