Smoke and Mirrors

Pros

Decent pay, the opportunity to work from home.

Cons

The executive team cultivates a toxic work environment that consistently undermines individuals with unprofessional and often damaging behavior. There is a glaring lack of accountability among leadership, frequent gaslighting, and little to no clarity on roles and responsibilities. Work-life balance is virtually nonexistent, and employees face undue scrutiny and judgment simply for seeking even a semblance of it.

Pros

Well-run business with a clear mission that positively impacts people. Efficient operations and strong execution. Supportive and kind colleagues. Opportunities to create and contribute meaningfully. Recognition for impactful work.

Cons

Felt dehumanized. I didn't feel valued as an engineer. Quality was deprioritized. Recognition was based on output volume rather than long-term sustainability. Technical excellence was not appreciated. Expectations were inconsistent. Concerns and feedback were largely disregarded. Engineering management was ineffective.

Pros

Some of the individual contributors are great. The company seems to target genuine hard working people for IC roles. There's good work to be found here for contractors, but the company is not stable enough for people with careers who do not have personal relationships with executive leadership.

Cons

Everyone is expected to be relocatable upon hire. I've seen people fired after a month for refusing to move cross-country. I've seen people move cross-country, and due to bad management, they were no longer needed and fired a month after being relocated. If your response to management is anything other than 'how high' when they bark 'jump!' then you will be fired in the spot. Asking for clarifying questions about work your assigned is seen as insubordination. I was lectured for approving candidates I interviewed for my team for "piping candidates who are not going to put the company before themselves". We were regularly told to write Glassdoor reviews and to report bad reviews.
