Pros

If you want to work in Sales, this is a good starting point. You get to learn a lot of sales techniques. You have to be able to motivate yourself to reach your targets. Mostly fun and competitive atmosphere.

Cons

Micro Management, Team leaders and Manager have no idea what they are doing half of the time. office politics. very very high staff turnover. company did not pay end of year commission to a lot of people 70% of staff walked out. Company is in debt, its been taken to court.

Pros

Its a good place to get experience if you have never had an office job - although they do now prefer university degree holders or gap year students - generally though they will take anyone - with or without the ability to either speak English, write properly or complete sentences... Its a good way to learn exactly WHY you should study hard at school - and what kind of job you'll end up in if you don't.. Its basically the MacDonalds of the telemarketing industry. Made me very determined to get my act together so that I would never have to go back to a place like that. Only real plus was its location - central Reading and opposite Forbury gardens which at least made for scenic lunch breaks.

Cons

Management seem to be under the impression that the only important people in the company are Managers. Telemarketing Consultants are treated like imbeciles who need to be micro managed at every step and who will slack off, run riot, revolt- or even worse - not hit their KPIs if left alone for a milli-second. Clients were constantly lied to and statistics were twisted to make out that campaigns were doing better than they were. Team leaders were always in a battle with at least one client to get them to accept leads that didn't really fit the campaign brief and which weren't what the client wanted or paid for .. Was frequently asked to attend training meetings and pretend I was calling on a campaign when I wasn't, and was constantly moonlighting to hit targets for one client on time being paid for by another .. commission structure was constantly changing and it wasn't unusual to find yourself mysteriously moved from a campaign when you started hitting commission consistently. Company is extremely clique-y and your ability to move up, not get fired for hitting KPIs or just get away with murder really depended on your ability to suck up to Managers and/or how well they liked you.. If you didn't fit the company's outdated stereotype of what a good worker looked like or your team leader didn't like you - you were marginalised and generally picked on until you left or they found some punitive reason to fire you.. Racism is rife and despite employing people from all round the world - the company seems to have no understanding that it wasn't legal to make fun of peoples names or religion or background - although they did manage to arrange prayer rooms for Ramadan a few times - no other religions were catered for or respected. Overall, the MD is under the impression that this is a fantastic place to work, somewhere every uni grad is desperate to come and work for - and if you aren't a manager in 6 months - or earning enough to live on - then its all your fault for not working hard enough, being the right person - or just having a work ethic and nothing to do with the fact that they still pay a basic wage that would have been poor in the 1980s ... Staff leaving in droves to competitor companies that pay wages you can actually live on - Management at Quantum are still confused as to why anyone would want to leave at all
