Pros

- Great coworkers - Paid sick time - Started offering pay for interns

Cons

Office has no windows. Routinely paid late—a third of my paychecks were late during my year at Quill. Compensation is not competitive. Lots of ed-tech buzzwords, relatively little substance to back it up. The CEO - A disorganized micromanager with poor communication and time management skills. - He frequently doesn’t show up to work until around 11 or noon, sometimes later or not at all. - He inappropriately shared private medical information about other members of the team with me on more than one occasion. - He does not communicate directly with the person he has a problem with, but rather talks about the problem with other members of the team, who invariably report back to the team member in question, creating a silly middle school drama type culture. - He over promises and under delivers. (Make sure you get everything in writing.) The CTO made jokes about my intelligence, calling me stupid and asking what was wrong with my brain. Looks good from the outside, but definitely not your dream job.

Pros

- A lot of the negative reviews from 2018 were correct at the time (I've been on the team since then), but we moved out of the windowless office into one with lots of windows. Interns are paid now (thank goodness) and the CEO has gotten a lot better. - Wonderful coworkers! - Great curriculum team manager - Employees are encouraged to grow and given a yearly sum that goes towards professional development/courses - Flexible work hours (everybody can choose whether they want to work from 8-4, 9-5, or 10-6 EST with an hour lunch break included, and lots of my coworkers are 100% remote, even outside of covid times)

Cons

- The CEO can still be difficult to work with at times - It gets busy during the summer because we try to push out a lot of content before the start of the school year

Pros

Very few meetings, low stress, kind and smart people, unlimited sick time, fair salary

Cons

It takes a long time to get anything done. Management is resistant to change. Very hierarchical for a small company. Health insurance is expensive and doesn't cover much. Limited PTO. Not a lot in terms of company culture (although the Ops person is trying).
