Pros

Remote work is only pro.

Cons

Every negative review discussing leaderships’s immaturity and dysfunction accurately sums up the reality of what RECUR really is. Two twenty something frat boys and one hotly tempered COO run the company. Whatever you do, stay away from harming your own reputation, but if you want reasons why keep reading. Every startup cliche imaginable comes to mind, but the one that is unique is the toxic white male energy that flows through just about every vein of the company. I’m not saying this from a POV of being woke or cancel culture. It is truly like working for adolescent teenagers who make promises they can’t keep and shout in meetings that run 45min over. Shrouding women’s voices and gaslighting you until you fall in line is commonplace. Lastly, don’t think that HR is capable of doing anything to promote change other than paperwork. They are agreeable bystanders. I heard that they even laid off someone on disability leave. Remarkably unprofessional, I will be searching for other roles soon. Wish it didn’t take me this long to understand the manipulation at play.

Pros

Not much aside from the competitive pay model they use to entice new talent to leave their established companies

Cons

Wow. The two children brothers in charge, CEO and COO, genuinely have not a clue what they’re doing. Aside from pulling the blinders over their employee base and gaslighting their user base. They are the perfect example of why employees should value their current companies and not bolt for “the next best thing”. Terrible executive leadership. Maybe use some foresight before laying off half you company via a 1 1/2 minute zoom call. Total jokers pretending as genuine business people.

Pros

Competitive pay and great benefits. They really do a good job recruiting talented people from diverse organizations and industries. Remote work is awesome. Culture can be cool—when the business is profitable and people aren’t in fear for their jobs.

Cons

Literally no actionable vision and long term planning from the executive team. Lots of promises and hype and not much backing it up. They just recently laid off half the company, many of the people laid off being hired quite literally a week or two previously-talk about not having a clue. Equally disturbing was the method in which the CEO announced the layoffs.. I’ve been involved with layoffs before, it’s apart of the business world but this was easily the most cowardly and non compassionate way it could have been handled. Zach Bruch, the CEO, with as little detail as possible announced over a 20 second zoom call that “hard decisions had to be made” and told everyone to reach out to their manager, before abruptly ending the zoom call before any kind of reaction could be warranted. Boom. End if it all. Half the company jobless. APPLICANTS BEWARE. They will promise a lot and make it appear as if they have a lot to give throughout the interview process. At the end of the day job security with Recur is no better than running a startup out of one’s garage and quickly over hiring to build hype, with a business model that doesn’t work. You’d be better off working with a company that you can be confident will not lay you off on a random whim or on any slight market downturn day.

We appreciate your feedback. Building startups and tech companies are never easy and difficult decisions were made but RECUR has a vision and plan that we are all working towards everyday.
