Pros

The only pro was getting to work alongside my team/colleagues in store because they were true to themselves and we had each others backs

Cons

Management - severely lacks any sort of people skills, understanding or empathy The amount of micromanagement is ridiculous, it’s like they don’t trust employees to do anything. Constantly asking for feedback - yet dismissed majority of our thoughts/ideas. Would never accept any criticism or feedback on what THEY could do better at Argumentative and outright rude - never clearly communicated from the beginning. So was set up to fail from the start - was such a toxic work environment. Gave false promises of product allowance, involvement with the company & launches, bonus scheme - all was non existent, mis-sold a dream! Yes the counter takes a lot of money, but you get absolutely nothing for it - a lousy ‘great week team’ if you’re lucky! Really not worth the stress or the hype if I’m really honest, I have never felt so disappointed and disrespected at a company in my whole life.

Pros

REFY has strong visual identity and is a cool and aspirational brand, one you’d aspire to work for with a group of talented, innovative hard workers! But scratch the surface and the chaotic hypocrisy of ‘simplifying beauty’ is quite clear.

Cons

Headed by somewhat ‘cliquey’ leadership, management offers an inadequate and misguided approach. With that be palming off an exceptional amount of responsibilities and tasks to undervalued and overwhelmed junior members, passing the buck and further showing the unbalanced accountability across the business or obstructive gatekeeping whilst expecting innovative solutions to contradicting feedback. There is a lot to be considered on the sustainability of this team structure in order to reduce a toxic environment, further training and effort to improve communication styles or improve management/people skills in general or maybe incorporating and actioning genuine employee feedback to reflect the reality of employees thoughts and feelings rather than what feels like ‘cherrypicking’ to improve an internal score would all be good places to start. I think there is an overwhelming sense of under-appreciation here that is truly disheartening and disappointing, as from first glance this appears to be a dream brand to work for.

Pros

Products and overall branding is strong Nice, clean office space Some of the people are lovely people

Cons

From the outside looking in it looks like the dream place to work, which the brand is very good at portraying, however unfortunately the reality is quite different. How they treat employees is extremely concerning and, to be honest, just a bit bizarre. They hire students as interns and don't pay them for months (or if they do, it's very unfair to the level of work they expect from them), promise them permanent roles, and then just drop them. The majority of senior management have no idea what they're doing, are way in over their heads and resort to using bullying tactics to try and assert authority, as well as just blatant lying, gossiping and encouraging clear favouritism. Half the time they don’t even remember what they’ve said to who and are in a state of delusion. No real HR or support for employees, nothing is kept confidential, incredibly unprofessional and clearly very inexperienced. Whilst the office is nice, the vibes are genuinely awful. It's quite clear that the majority of people don't want to be there but management don't seem to see this at all. For the most part, employees are overworked, underappreciated, not respected and threatened to be put on performance reviews or just sacked for no reason or justification. When asked for feedback they can’t even give it to you. People are set up to fail from the beginning, no direction, communication nor management. The staff turnover is actually really bad with a lot of people having awful experiences, but unfortunately both past and present employees don’t speak about it because of the outward brand reputation. Several people’s mental health and wellbeing have been impacted by working at REFY and the people causing this within the workplace should be held accountable.
