Pros

- Work with some of the best journalists, learn from passionate and inspiring individuals - Not very hierarchal in structure, almost all colleagues and many editors are friendly, collaborative, open - Freedom to pitch, independence in working, trust in employees - Great exposure, credibility-building experience - High quality output

Cons

- Favoritism among reporters/employees by management - Overworked, underpaid, no holiday pay, hard to get raises, no yearly increases - Decisions driven by emotion at times - Unclear criteria for performance review
