Worst agency management I've ever seen

Pros

The clients are pretty cool. That's it.

Cons

- The CEO has no idea what he's doing. - The financial state of things turns on a dime - one week 'things are looking good - it looks like we'll be able to hire a new X', and the next week 'this isn't sustainable. If our numbers don't improve by end of week, we'll need to lay 2 people off' - Overtime is expected regularly - Contributions are not recognized - Leadership has no idea what they're doing - They lie consistently to get the 'right' people in the door, only to have those people leave when they understand they were lied to. Things like 'there's no overtime required here', or 'we'll be able to offer you a salary increase after 6 months'. - There's a constant flow of people leaving (9 people resigned in Q1 of 2019. At least half of the raises they promise to people would be possible, if turnover wasn't so high. They don't seem to understand that the cost of turnover is astronomical. - Leadership invested in 14 gigantic monitors to be placed throughout the office - except they just sit in boxes. They also made this purchase about a few weeks before they laid some people off - which was a terrible look - they can only afford to hire junior talent

Thank you for your feedback. As an agency, we’re trying our best to review processes to make our office a healthy environment to work for our employees. Theses generalizations must be frustrating to you and we would really appreciate an opportunity to talk to you about this. Your concerns do matter to us because we don’t want any of our employees/contractors to ever feel this way. At Redstamp we do believe in work-life balance, transparency, and trust. A True Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing - Beware

Pros

Flexible hours and ability to work from home often. Free snacks and drinks. Some great people to work with (PMs, design and devs) and some interesting clients.

Cons

Redstamp as a company is that emotionally abusive, narcissist ex you wish you never dated. They are all talk - kind and inviting, even endearing at first, but the more you get to know this company the more you see the ugly mess underneath. Either they don’t know what they are doing or they do and they are incredibly calculated and manipulative. Either way, it’s not a good place to be. Management’s word doesn’t mean anything. No follow through, and constantly changing goal posts then gaslighting you when you bring it up. Lots of nice ideas that don’t come to fruition. They will take from you whatever they can and keep trying to sweet talk you while secretly trying to undercut you. The big new office is more full of furniture than staff because of high turnover. They seem to be wasting money on things like big screen TVs that sit unused and top of the line desks that are mostly empty. Very top heavy. More upper management than needed and they are all white dudes despite the company’s supposed equitable ideals. This is not LGBTQ safe space, despite what they say. A lot of the team have less than accepting attitudes. Again, it’s all talk. Redstamp was one of the most disappointing, ethically dubious, and frustrating places I have ever worked. Avoid unless you are a workaholic, like being underpaid, or appreciate being undervalued.

Pros

Good location. Bright office. Opportunity to occasionally work from home. Some fun projects.

Cons

- High employee turnover. This company is a toxic sinking ship and people are fleeing fast, at least a dozen so far in 2019 (several in the last month alone), which is a big deal for such a small company. - The CEO is completely oblivious and thinks he's doing a great job and delivering, but in reality he flips on a dime and his word means very little; promises made one day and reneged on the next. Gas-lighting abounds; Passive aggressive is the temperament du jour. - Team pay raises get announced at "all hands"/general meetings, then they get pushed back by several months and in some cases reneged on. Most colleagues that I've spoken to about the situation are massively underpaid and actively looking for work elsewhere. - Redstamp is incredibly top heavy, more managers than there is work to manage. - More money has been wasted on unused equipment and office TVs (that I expect will continue to sit in boxes for months to come) than on training and promised pay raises. - There is lots of talk about equity and transparency, but it's just talk, no follow through. - No overtime pay - Below average benefits - Very few sick days. - Burnout rate amongst employees is extremely high due to high expectations while at the same time being underpaid and under-appreciated.
