I have been working at Reed Smith full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Management is awesome, managing partner is kind, humble and genuinely cares for every employee and attorney, the firm looks out for its people, great culture overall. Opportunity for growth and learning, structured procedures, organized work loads, constructive feed back from paraprofessional supervisors and guidance by senior paralegals. I’ve never had a bad day working here, everybody is nice and friendly. I always feel appreciated and respected by everybody. Flexible work hours, as long as you do your job and you meet your billable requirements nobody here is micromanaged. Reed Smith is a great place to work, they offer a great work environment and also amazing benefits (competitive 401k), transportation and parking stipend, good health care choices at affordable prices. Firm tries to accommodate employees and provide anything they need to keep employees happy.

    Cons

Lower salary than a lot of surrounding firms, raise isn’t that great, snacks only sometimes but a lot of food, happy hours and bagels make up for it.

I worked at Reed Smith full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The firm somehow has a good reputation so it looks good on the Resume. Most of the attorneys are pleasant.

    Cons

This is a terrible place for pretty much everyone outside of attorneys. I was at this firm's litigation unit for 3 years and it was an absolute waste. Paralegals are not really part of the trial teams here, they are just called upon to complete random tedious tasks from whoever. Most of the work assignments the Paralegals received were administrative or secretarial non-billable work. Tons of downtime. The firm has an army of 1-3 year associates doing all the work that Paralegals have done at other firms i've been at. The pay structure for staff is horrible: Well below market salary and laughable bonuses/raises that don't even make up for inflation.
